I have like no desire to control others. Thats a hallmark of narcissism, embodied in group think and anger at people who don't fit into that.

I'm inviting criticism instead of defending myself or insulting you. Bring it. Tell me how. A narcissist would run so hard from that moment. I welcome it. Bring it. The worst you can do to me is help me grow.

Honestly I have had some traits of BPD, but narcisism, nah man, i test like baseline type zero low for all aspects of that except one. But please tell me how.
Narcissists think they’re special and above it all. You think you’re better than the rest of us sheep and try to control the narrative of what’s right. A person with NPD usually scores well on empathy tests, because they are unable or unwilling to answer honestly. It would be too damaging to have the truth revealed.

Even if that was fake news the larger point is absolutely valid, and has been proven by your reactions. Everything is so partisan these days people cheer the loss of their own freedoms just so long as the other side is losing theirs.

    I'm not here to 'win'.
This is textbook narcissistic behavior, including gaslighting. You just want a conversation, we aren’t able to understand because we’re too riled up with partisan anger, our reactions prove your point and there’s no point in the conversation because we can’t see the truth. Sound about right?

When did I call anyone sheep? I don't ridicule people like that, especially these days. I think you're seeing a sense of superiority where there isn't one.

I actually would like to hear what you all think about the march towards tyranny, but I get we're not doing that.

Still, you seem to not be the only one saying this, so I'm sure I have played a part in it.

Really though, you can't do a bit better? Cus what you said basically can be restated as not fitting into group think. The arrogance to have a different perspective.

Only covert narcisssts pretend to have empathy, and they do it unconvincingly, the rest justify their narcissim and lack of interest in or ability to understand others.

Listen, Ive got plenty of my own faults, believe me. This isn't about me feeling superior. No one wants to say I told you so after a genocide, or civil war, or descent into tyranny, thats not the point. I get whatever I'm attempting I'm failing at though, so I wish you all the best. I get no one here is concerned with tyranny unless its trump doing it. Just seems odd to me. Fighting about it just creates more division though, so I'm not going to do that.

I dunno. You seem to be more concerned with my narcissism than discussing our march towards tyranny, which is relevant to this thread, being that this war is about authoritarianism, and relevant towards us all. Seesm to me we all either see commonality between the citizens of the world, or we play into the division that enables authoritarianism. Hardly seems controlling to me, quite the opposite, I want power for us all.

Conversations don't happen with people who begin them as arguments, which is advice I need to heed right now, and stop this. You have a great day.

Gaslighting doesn't exist, you just made it up. Ok that ones a joke. Don't really see how I'm gaslighting though, I'd hear more about that.

    In Russia today:

    • Russia’s Central Bank has now officially prohibited anyone in the country from sending more than $5,000 abroad.
    • VPN apps are now the top Apple Store downloads in Russia
    • Moscow police officers are stopping people and requesting their phones to read their messages
    • Across 49 Russian cities thousands of Russians risked imprisonment by marching in protest against the war
    • The Russian Orthodox church sides with Putin, says the West engages in genocide campaigns against countries that refuse to stage gay parades
    • Russian protestor “I survived the Leningrad Siege! My father died at the front […] What do you want from me?” says an elderly woman in Kaliningrad today. “We have friends and family in Ukraine!” says another woman. “You came to support the fascists?” asks the cop, then orders them all arrested
    • Putin continues to push the Ukrainian dirty bomb false flag narrative
    • Russia continues its crackdown on journalists and independent media
    • Putin is piloting the nation like a drunken maniac with the state media retconning his every word 24/7

I really think that the sanctions and heroics of the Ukrainian people will end this. It hasn’t even been two weeks yet. Even if we were actively planning on joining the fight, we’re months away from deploying and assembling all the personnel and equipment to be at a place where we know we would win. This discounts the nuclear options from both sides and that could come into play without direct military intervention. We really need patience right now. I know it’s horrible right now but the alternative at this point in time is exponentially worse.

Never go full leroy. On topic:

Here's a link that I found interesting and fairly credible. It's a German translation from the original (there's an English one on facebook I guess):

    https://medium.com/@Ghantt/russische...g-ed9f6f0f9b49

No way to confirm it, but...allegedly a leaked communique from an FSB analyst (an established source of the recipient) to gulagu-net, a Russian human rights org. It's been noted that this is pretty long for a fake, but fog of war, etc. He makes some good points, anyway.

Yeah, I know. Anyway, the kinda English translation of jonos purported FSB link is here in pastebin: https://pastebin.com/2agMRGmd

Christo Grozev from bell?ngcat thinks it could possibly be real, and he appears to not be the overly credulous type.

getting this thread back on track... Apologies if already covered. In case others are also interested in the significance of russian oil to the US, I found this article useful. Apparently, US gets only 4% of their oil from russia. So seems like a no brainer for US to formally stop russia oil purchases (mostly symbolic) to help pressure EU (more of an issue due to more significant dependence on russian oil)

Russian Oil Not Worth the Trouble, Some Traders Conclude
    By Clifford Krauss, March 1
European buyers, shippers, banks and insurers have grown leery of doing business with Russia in recent days, even at deep discounts.
HOUSTON — The United States and the European Union have been unwilling to put sanctions on Russian energy exports in response to the country’s invasion of Ukraine. But some oil traders appear to have concluded that buying oil from Russia is just not worth the trouble.

One of the three top oil producers in the world, after the United States and Saudi Arabia, Russia provides roughly 10 percent of the global supply. But in recent days traders and European refineries have greatly reduced their purchases of Russian oil. Some have stopped altogether.

Buyers are pulling back because they or the shipping companies, banks and insurance companies they use are worried about running afoul of Western sanctions in place now or those that might come later, energy experts said. Others are worried that shipments could be hit by missiles, and some just don’t want to risk being seen as bankrolling the government of President Vladimir V. Putin.

Russian exporters have been offering the country’s highest-quality oil at a discount of up to $20 a barrel in recent days but have found few buyers, analysts said. Buyers, in Europe in particular, have been switching to Middle Eastern oil, a decision that has helped drive oil prices above $100 a barrel for the first time since 2014.

On Wednesday, that ascent continued. Brent crude, the global benchmark, was up more than 6 percent and touched $113 a barrel. In early December, it was about $65 a barrel. West Texas Intermediate, the gauge followed widely in the United States, rose to $111.

“The enablers of oil exports — the banks, insurance companies, tanker companies and even multinational oil companies — have enacted what amounts to a de facto ban,” said Tom Kloza, global head of energy analysis at the Oil Price Information Service. Mr. Kloza said it could take weeks before it was clear how significantly Russia’s oil exports had fallen and whether the drop would be sustained, but “clearly the Russian contribution to world oil supply has been constricted.”

On Tuesday, the International Energy Agency said its members, which include the United States and more than a dozen European nations, had agreed to release 60 million barrels of oil from their strategic reserves. The announcement had little impact on global oil prices, probably because the amount was modest, amounting to roughly three days of consumption by the United States. The White House and Energy Department signaled that more oil could be released later by describing the I.E.A. agreement as an “initial release.”

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and other oil producers, including Russia, met on Wednesday and declined to raise output.

Much of Russia’s oil is shipped out of Black Sea ports for use in Europe. Some shipping companies carrying oil and commercial goods are afraid that their vessels will be fired on. Congestion in sea lanes is interrupting the shipping of not only oil but also food. On Friday, an unidentified missile hit a Moldovan-flagged tanker carrying oil and diesel.

“Russia’s flagship Urals blend was one of the first to break through the $100-per-barrel mark this year,” said Louise Dickson, senior oil market analyst at Rystad Energy, a research and consulting firm. “But the country’s incursion into Ukraine has now made it one of the most toxic barrels on the market.”

The invasion has prompted several major Western oil companies — BP, Shell and Exxon Mobil — to halt their involvement in oil and gas projects in Russia.

As European refiners buy more oil from places like Saudi Arabia, Russian companies are increasingly trying to sell their crude to refineries in China and other Asian countries by offering them discounts.

Most of Russia’s roughly five million barrels of daily oil exports go to Europe. About 700,000 barrels a day are consumed in the United States, roughly 4 percent of the U.S. market.

Several Scandinavian refiners, including Neste Oyj of Finland and Preem of Sweden, have said they halted purchases of Russian oil.

    Ukraine

I bet We’re going to lift sanctions on Venezuela, there’s a team headed there now. Then we’re going to ban Russian oil this week. It’s 8% of imports.

Long term probably going to regret that, probably not good for Latin America in general, but what can you do when you won’t rape your own land. You rape someone else’s.
