    Considering that my Failwood Pass is worthless after this Sunday, now is the time.

    Just pulled the trigger on the Base pass. Squaw/KSL have traditionally bluffed on price increases so curious how that plays out this year. Early purchase made sense for us as we are heading to Mammoth next week.

    well, regardless of whether and when the price goes up, the one thing we won't see is a lower price, because they would have to refund the difference to everyone who has purchased a pass already.

    Ikon Pass

    Had the online cart ready to buy tonight for the base pass x 4 (me, Mrs, 2 kids) but having pre-buyers remorse. $1376 in April for next winter with no payment plan sucks. Only way it looks like a deal is when you compare to WP only, which is $1106 for the same 4 passes.

    As an old man with a few potentially season cancelling conditions I was thinking of buying the pass now with pass insurance for $50. I had to go through about 4 screens before I finally found this:
    SECTION III - POLICY LIMITATIONS AND EXCLUSIONS
    Benefits are not payable for any loss due to, arising or resulting from:
    1. due to a Pre-Existing Condition;
    2. suicide, attempted suicide or any intentionally self-inflicted injury of You, or Family Member;
    3. war, invasion, acts of foreign enemies, hostilities between nations (whether declared or undeclared), or civil war;
    4. participating as a professional in a stunt, athletic or sporting event or competition;
    5. normal pregnancy (except complications of pregnancy) and/or resulting childbirth, except as otherwise covered under
    Cancellation or Interruption, or voluntarily induced abortion;
    6. any non-emergent treatment or surgery, or any Elective Treatment and Procedures;
    7. a mental, or nervous or psychological disorder unless Hospitalized for that condition while the policy is in effect for You;

    So if either of my conditions worsen and need elective surgery I'm not covered. (Standard trip insurance if bought within 15 days of booking a trip covers preexisting conditions as long as you are fit to go on the trip at the time you book). The war exclusion ordinarily doesn't concern me, but under the present circumstances . . . . And excluding suicide of a family member seems harsh. So fuck you KSL or whatever you call yourselves these days. I'll wait and pay more for the pass if I decide I can ski next season.

    Why? They don't have to I would think.

    Pregnancy has also always been covered by the RSMP+ products. Bought insurance twice for the Mrs, used it twice for the Mrs.

    After purchasing, they tell you that the pass will be mailed in the Fall. To use it this year, I have to stop at the Seasons Pass Office, daily, to get a day pass.
    Sad.

    Because they always advertise that it is at its lowest price right now.

    I don't think it's a day pass that you have to do over and over again. You can just pick up your actual pass in person now.

    Sad.
    That still may be the case next year. The Maxpass this year was direct to lift at certain mountains, but, at some others, a daily ticket pickup was required.

    Done.

    The math is good unless you need to spend more than 5-7 days at a non-squaw resort.
    The base pass can easily get you 15 days for 6 bills, $40 a day ain’t bad. Then road trip to squaw for unlimited days.

    The math was easy:
    1st Alpine trip, first two days at Other Passholder rate.
    The next Squaw trip at regular Spring rates.
    3 day’s at Mammoth mini.
    Paid off before the season ends.

    Holi F.
    The Other Passholder Rate at Alpine is $89, twice. Then the Regular day rate is $169. (How do they find people to pay that?) Damn.
    So, this three days at Alpine and the pass is way over halfway paid off.

    Just got the mailer advising me of the same. UGH. Going up to $700 before I could raise the $600. Maybe they need the extra hundo so they can send out more fancy mailers. Loveland or WP only looking attractive.

    They clearly didn’t sell as many as they planned or those mailers wouldn’t have gone out (to everyone it seems, even those who already bought). The full price now rather than in a payment plan had to have hurt them.

    With so many credit cards offering 0 interest for 12 months, just charge the passes and pay off over time or am I missing something here?
    Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

    Ikon Pass

    I wonder if they will have a payment plan next year. I selfishly hope they don’t to deter people even though I liked the payments last year. Did they not have payments to get more cash up front for improvements?

    If you look at the Facebook comments for the resorts on the pass referencing the Ikon pass and Ikon’s own posts like 95% of them are definitely very negative in tone. However, that may not be unique.
