Veprs stocks are dwindling as they are now banned from import which sucks as its one of the better made AKs.

    Found some info here.

Some other info suggests that the M1 rifle was a front line weapon while the carbine was carried by those further back.

30.06 is serious rifle round. It's still incredibly popular for big game hunting. Not common in a semi-auto these days due to the massive recoil and weight. In a military context it's been replaced by 5.56 for close engagements, .308 for mid-range and .300 Win Mag/.338 Lapua for long range. You might find the history of the transition from 30.06 to 5.56 an interesting subject to read about.

30 carbine is essentially a pistol round. 4.6, 5.7, 5.56, 9mm sub machine guns have fully replaced 30 carbine in military use.

I still kick myself for not having bought an m1 garand back when Woolworths had them for under a $100. 30 years ago. Sorta like when the market was flooded with SKSs. But different. Sure, they were all beat to shit. However, they were Garands.

Beat to shit Garands can be fairly easily cleaned up, and/or get one with a certain level of work done to it. A neighbor bought a CMP Garand that has been refurbished and it's gorgeous.

I hear ya on the SKS type of thing. What's going to be next on the hit list...bump stocks.

Fortunately most everything else is about back to 'normal' pricing. I've even seen .22 down in the 5 cents a rnd range. Not 3 cents +/- like it should be but better than $0.10.

And repeating, whoever has interest, get the damn Vepr!!! So fun and accurate and sexy. Especially with a Russian scope on it.

This morning I was at the FBO at the JH airport. Liberty is considering taking some flight lessons and had a great discovery flight around the Valley in a little Cessna. It was a real treat for her. Perfect skies. He let her take the controls and even let her pull up on the wheel during take off. She flew for an hour.

Some uber fancy JH second or third homeowners show up for their private charter- which I'm told was $8000/hr. Young pilot checks IDs, asks boiler plate questions.

One of them, "Will we be transporting any firearms or ammunition today?"

JH Second Homeowners: "Yes, we are both armed and will be transporting ammunition"

    Me (watching): /eyebrows raised.

Young Pilot: "OK...no problem." He acted pretty casual about the whole thing.

Then business as usual. I walked up to a person working there and asked how that works. The employee said it is up to the pilot on a private charter.

I casually mentioned to the staff... "Wow, I didn't see that answer coming"

Staff person: "They're [fancy looking rich people chartering a jet] all armed."

    Interesting.

Same out of the airports in ID. Some pilots don't even ask but they generally assume when we're taking a flight into the backcountry. No TSA security, just the pilot's call.

I think this guy was a pilot, but he was pretty casual about it.

Fender bender with a dumb ass right lane merger a couple weeks ago. We both pull over, I called the Golden police. First time I've been needing to give ID to a cop since getting my CHP 6 years ago. I give my permit along with DL, registration and insurance card.

I tell him and he says he doesn't care, as long as it's not pulled out and pointed at him.

CO is no longer a need to inform state but I chose to. Private pilots and FBO's aren't the only ones who trust law abiding citizens.

How can a civilian tell whether the guy in front of them in line at McDonalds who is packing two tactical pistols is a law abiding citizen. How does one know that he is not going to shoot the place up if his order is wrong? Ask him? Should one have to ask? If he is going t shoot the place up would he tell me? Maybe I should have dialed 911 and had the cops ask.

If he’s just standing there being a dumbfuck open carry guy and not threatening anyone, and open carry is legal in your state, the cops will not likely come.

Law-abiding citizens who can afford those two pistols won't be ordering from a fucking McDonalds.

I would have taken his picture for you but people who know me say that I'm shy and non-confrontational.

Hey!! I looked it up and my J Stevens Little scout was made around 1915. Perfect size for my 4 grand kids as they grow to and through. Probably not safe though? I've probably put 200 rounds through it myself over 5 years. Maybe some new parts? Serious question.
