@puregravity - I just did the same thing the other day on an off camber turn. I was taking my bike out for its last ride the day before my new one was finished being built... banged up my hand, now I'm riding my new one but can't really push it because I have trouble squeezing the front brake and drops and rocky sections hurt like a bitch.

Bad thing about skiing and biking - it's all thumbs (Monday morning attempt at humor)

Sorry to hear. Good thing it was the old bike

Know a good physio? Still swollen?

I'm doing cold therapy still ... Putting hand in cool water and then slowly adding ice cubes until the water is at winter arctic temps. Seems to be working. That, and new treads. Sucks to not be able to ride.

Been looking at getting a new DH sled for a while, and finally found a sweet '12 Canfield ONE for sale in Vancouver. Instead of having it shipped, I booked a ticket a few days in advance and planned out my first summer trip to Whistler after wanting to ride there for the last decade. What a place!

I showed up to some pretty nasty smoke covering the entire province

But I was totally stoked on my new rig

So I threw on my Maggot jersey and headed up the mountain in search of some fresher air and rad trails

Of course I didn't stop to take pictures, but the mountain photographer was happy to oblige and only charge me a small fortune for the good ones.

So so so so glad it wasn't a little bit bigger rock. Even think the GoPro chest harness might have protected by sternum a bit - that's where I hit the rock.
It all turned out right and all I needed was 5 physio sessions for injured thumb. Add a few more sessions for good measure. The total cost of accident = 7 sessions x $75 = $525.
It's 80% covered by plan for year, up to $500. That better be my only injury needing physio for this year. Hospital visits here are free - but let's not go there!

First ride yesterday and took it real easy. Thumb and most of hand seems good to go. Also, taping my wrists has started to become the norm to prevent re-injuring.

Bike was OK. No damage to anything. The bike slid out and didn't even hit anything.
I have lowered my front fork from 140 to 120 (stock) and the front end seems more planted and the balance seems better.

Knee/shin and elbow pads along with beefy leather palm/wrist gloves seems to help a lot

I went down to Bozeman and rode in the Bridgers last weekend.

Swiped from a friend's Instagram, but so far it's my favorite shot of the weekend:

It was awesome, and the carnage was minimal. The views were outstanding and there was some trail that demanded respect. The guys at the Dirt Concern picked a course that nobody saw coming and did a great job of keeping it quiet. I heard the announcement raised eyebrows and dropped jaws. Alter Cycles were great hosts, too.

Edit: here's a POV from one of the riders:
