Cream Ale is my favorite Genny beer. And the only one that tastes significantly better in a glass
If it's green, smoke it...if it's pink, poke it

Just wanted to update this thread, since I offered a pretty strong endorsement of the LG G3, which I am getting ready to skip across a lake. LG has put a lot of the pieces near each other, without succeeding in putting them together. On its surface, it's a pretty high quality device, but I found it to be surprisingly hard to live with day to day. There are so many small gaps in the software development it's enough to drive someone insane. The main issues have proven to be:

    Laggy interface
    Unpredictable battery performance
    Periodically unresponsive screen
Incomplete app integration - especially the messaging and exchange email clients. Lots of extra clicks, or places I can't refer data from one app to another.
Inconsistent hardware performance - ie. 20% of the time, the headphone jack decides it's not connected and it sends the audio through the speakers
Other software bugs - ie. app tray appears to be empty about 30% of the time. Have to close and reopen it for it to populate.

So, since you can now buy an unlocked Sony Xperia Z3 with a valid US warranty, I'm giving that one a go. So far so good, in that the obvious flaws of the G3 are not immediately apparent. The screen is not nearly as nice, but if it consistently registers my taps, that would be a major improvement. I will update this post at some point in the future as is warranted.

I have a Galaxy S6 on order. Delivery set for April 8th. I have had Galaxys for years now and am still using a 4 with my wife using the S5. I was worried about the non-removable battery and no SD card, until I realized I have never even purchased a back up battery or had need for a larger SD card. I have an external battery backup thing I use for numerous devices and cloud storage, so no big deal to me.

^^ haven't read this thread, as i figured it was pointless. Isnt the decision basically ios or android? Are there really better android phones than the galaxy series?

Anyways, saw the last post and thought I'd mention that I have a GS5 with 2 batteries that I charge externally.

Losing that ability would be major issue for me.

So far, I would say that my Motorola Droid Turbo blows the S5 out of the water.

Pretty good article in this morning's NYT. Basically Samsung has big troubles brewing. Crazy stat of the day: Apple earned 90% of the profit made in the global phone business last year. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/04/02/te...ting.html?_r=0

do, S6 no longer offers SD micro, removable battery, or waterproof. All major selling points in my decision to get the S5 last year. Dumb moves Samsung.

I just got my first smart phone. Bought the same model as my buddy's. He lost his in the mud after a car wreck that broke 3 of his ribs. Came back next day in the rain, found it, wiped it off and it fired right up. I hate it already. What's an App?

downloadable custom program icons with web access to feed the app skins data. Sportscenter app for being a gambling fiend. Snapshat app for sending dick pix. Weed app that shows GPS locations for all dispensaries coded as rec or medical.

Apps are wonderful things. There is a TGR app, but Dunfee fucked it all up.

Google's heavy hand is going to screw companies like Samsung that are trying to duplicate the Apple experience on top of Android. I've probably said it before, but I'm mostly fine with that as I prefer the stock Android experience.

I was about to buy a Moto X when Cricket announced their most recent switch/phone deal. Ended up with a Moto G for $25. I wouldn't pay full price for it, but for $25 - or even $100 - it's a really nice phone. 1gb of RAM is the weak point, so it can get a little laggy, but it's been fine for my use.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

Yup, prefer stock Android. Mostly. Every once in a while the manufacturer has an interesting widget or two but you have to put up with 10 that suck for that one cool one. I do like Moto Circles. However it ends up taking up too much space because you can't get rid of that stupid google search widgit pinned to the top of every screen. There are a bunch of other apps that would look cool in its place. And would look even cooler hovering above the circles. Oh well. On a Moto G. "Notification Toggle" gives me the control I really want. Fuck the Google search bar.

So, who needs cool? I just need a secure platform that doesn't get hacked and that is BB or Apple. Not an Apple fan boy so I buy BB. Love my Q10, but I do wish it had the larger screen with the slide out keyboard.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

FYI, tgr works fine on plain old vanilla tapatalk. Unfortunately, the "new" tapatalk is a PITA.

Fast forward 6 weeks to wooley ranting that his phone is still on 5.0.2 when 5.1 has been out since march.

HaH!! My phone is not on 5.0.2 or 5.1. It's on my desk recharging because the battery is a POS. Flip phone was good for a week. Smartass phone is good for 9 hours if I don't use it.

Buying it was an experience. Only thing missing in the sales clerk was a plaid sport coat, polyester tie and a weak mustache. He had the auto sales sleeze down pat. Sold my wife the PREMIUM screen protector AND insurance for her new IPhone. I got him though. Made him toss in a free tablet that only costs me $10/mo for the rest of my life.

Mophie case if you need more juice.

Of course a smart phone is going to use more battery than a dumb (flip) phone. You're not buying it to make phone calls.

Today I used my phone to guide me to my destination while streaming music and making hands-free calls and having it read me texts. My old Nokia had bitchin battery life for phone calls but ... seriously? We're not even talking about emails and attachments in the field yet.
