Or, if one were feeling a little more charitable, one might think that it might be significantly easier to open limited terrain to a small number of skiers, in groups supervised by employees, than it would be to move to full blown operational status a week ahead of schedule -- particularly with a FIS race scheduled for the hill.
Speaking of which, I'm hearing rumors that Alpine may still be on the lookout for additional coaches, although I'm not sure whether the needs are for race or recreational teams. If any maggots were interested, I'd probably suggest that contact the people who run the team directly and ask what their needs are; their email addresses are on www.alpineteams.com. I do know that they hire some coaches without experience and train them during the season. This is going to be the ninth season I've had kids on team, and if my weekends were consistently free, I'd be signing up in a heartbeat.
