The dirrection Squaw goes depends on money and the market. We know that the economy is in the tank, theyre selling season tickets at 1970 prices(probably just covering debt like our government does). The season ticket prices would work, if we all bought five beers, two burgers, and a two night stay. Just hope the new boss has enough leadership to keep things in order for this season and by then the chinese will have purchased all of North-Shore. Remember Vail is 100/day and the company that owned Whistler and others went through some form of bankruptcy two years ago. Other than the current snow conditions our sport is in serious trouble. IM A PESSIMIST , that way Im prepped for the worst.

    forget about it

everything I said was just alittle too on the down-side. Im hungover from drinking red wine that tasted like burnt rubber and welches. The good news is that Im hung due to the fact that I was tuning and waxing the xxls with blue wax b4 thanx. I havent done that since I had to roadtrip to Targhee in 07 because we didnt have shit. PESSIMIST be gone. My gfs a complete hippy soo we balance out.

I told you guys that my NY trip would result in big snow. Didn't think this much snow though! Got into SFO yesterday at 4, picked up my wing man (Jake, my dog) from the ex, and made it through chain control before they shut down 80.

I had to tunnel into my front door as there were 4 foot drifts blocking it. Wow.

So anyone know when Squaw will open some good stuff? tomorrow for KT?

Wow, crazy day yesterday, got to Heavenly, CLOSED because of gnar weather conditions. We didn't let that deter us so we made it to Flatstar and got a few OK runs in before I blew my knee out, broke one of my poles... torn MCL, yay. Then stuck in crazy truck traffic in crazy weather on 80 for 4 hours trying to make it home. Not bad for a first day of the season.

Looking forward to my next day!

Blown out my driveway and shovelled my walk twice today and it's filled back up and still coming down hard.

    Gawd damn!

Today was stellar. However, if by ever you mean EVER, I've got to dispute that. On November 28, 1994, while you were still a snot-nosed runt, it was bluebird and we had 28" new on top of a 5-12' BASE, and we were able to hit just about every Squaw cliff imaginable. That was the best early season EVER. Today was really freakin' good.

So what your saying is, there is still time left to eclipse that.

As I am now in the great flat state of Michigan, any accumulation can now be attributed to my absence. Thanks to everyone for posting the stoke though, its making me sick to my stomach, but in a good way.

MCL heals on its own--although the timeline depends on the severity of the tear. That's coming from somebody who has torn both MCLs to varying degrees at different times.

I still hadn't learned to ski in '94 and I have very few memories of that time period due to extended drug use. So I'm going with Cody on this one: Best Early Season Ever!

that sucks. can i guess that you got stuck deep and tore your mcl trying to rip your ski out of all the pow? a buddy and i were thinking with conditions like those, that would be a likely cause of injury.

its hard to imagine the casual skier in even more snow than yesterday. how are the resorts going to manage the danger levels this weekend?

at the end of the day i was doing the usual mental playback of the day's shredding and it was almost sickening to think about my November legs doing all those deep powder turns from 9:30 to last chair

^^^Nice flip on Red Dog^^^(Gopher)(don't know name of that rock...think you over rotated)

Today was one of my best days on Red Dog everrr!

And big props to the Cal Tran worker at Gold Ranch who let me talk him into letting me drive up even though I-80 was closed! I OWE YOU BIG TIME. He basically made me bullshit him into thinking I was working up in Truckee. He knew fully well I was going riding though.

The Back 40 was deep today. Too bad I was solo and had to stick with the lower angle terrain. Tomorrow will be nice.

    Oh, BTW. Bottomless.

I hope the roads are open to the Wood. Its currently nuking. Its currently party cloudy in Auburn with no wind, so the end of this wave should be near. May need to take 50 to 89 aka the long way.Theyll need to blast 10 before they open 11 soo Im guessing chair 5 only for the early morning.

Exactly! In 94 I ski'd opening day at KW on Nov 10, 2-3' new! Was my deepest first day ever until 2 days ago on Red Dog. Don't remember the details of 94 as well as you as it soon became a blur, but I do remember there was more snow at Thanksgiving that year than at any time the previous winter. And it kept on coming, past 3 days have been excellent but still a notch below 1994, can't really compare the 2 since we've got no KT yet. Tomorrow?
