I hate that shit too!!! Granted I live in montana and only recently have speed limits been enforced from the old school "Reasonable and Prudent" speed limit to 70 on most state highways. We have a lot of slow ass hick drivers driving along in old ford pickups that constantly spew black smoke (we don't have emmision standards either) going 55 in the passing lane. But the worst is in the summer when all the stupid fucking tourists in their huge ass motorhomes are crawling all over our state going 50 and looking at the cows!! However, what pisses me off even more is Montanans inability to turn onto two lanes at an intersection...example: I'm waiting at a green light to make a left hand turn into the LEFT LANE of a two lane road. Meanwhile the idiot fucking assholes who are turning right from the other side keep turning into the left lane instead of the RIGHT LANE like they are supposed to. So I say fuck it and edge my way into MY lane and people freak out and hit their breaks and stop making their turn while looking at me in horror. THAT IS HOW YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO DO IT YOU STUPID HICK REDNECK MOTHERFUCKS!!!!!!! That way traffic flows and we all share the road.

I like the 7:05am rally too, at least they're smart enough to anticipate parked cars and left-turning bitches and know how to read the lines in traffic circles and not attempt to merge left at 30mph and not come to a dead stop at a yield sign around a blind corner because they didn't check traffic before they got there and know how to turn right into a two lane road.

I'd rather have the people doing 100 passing everybody in the left lane than to have them swerving all over the road because someone is too stubborn to move over.

Yeah, that's the flipside to this issue. I agree there are way too many left lane squatters who have no business there, but there are also plenty of people who come up right on your ass even though you are passing cars, just not fast enough for them.

I'm convinced those people would still weave all over. That's just what they do.

I didn't think it was technically a law at least here. If you want to be an asshole and drive slow in the left lane you legally have the right. I remember reading that the ex Minnesota Governor the Honorable Jesse The Body Ventura vetoed a bill that would make driving in the left lane while not actively passing illegal.

I thought slow traffic was supposed to drive in the middle lane on a three lane roadway.

Ah, the Mormon Roadblock. Resistant to all forms of polite light flashing. Classic.

If I'm in my truck and somebody is really creating a traffic hazard, I'll get past them on the right, get in front of them and slow down until they get pissed and hop into the middle lane.

    Smart? No.

    Effective. Oh yeah.

That is hilarious ,I've said the same thing so many times.

Unfortunately, driving slow in the right lanes is like voting for the Green Party;correct in theory, wrong in practice. When slow cars get in the right lane, I have no where to pass.I almost exclusively pass in the right lane because it's the only lane with no traffic in it. My theories are: no-one wants to be considered to be the "slow one" so they stay left, they got there 1st so they are entitled to do what they want,Those who are socializing ,eating, applying make-up/brushing hair 1st & maybe driving second,The self styled speed regulators, & The power-trippers;those who feel helpless to control their lives ,so they try & control others.

I don't get it. You seem to think roads are funded solely by auto excise and gas tax..

Seems like your theory is like supporting anarchy. Great if it's just you on the road or in the area, but turns into a mess when a bunch more people show up.

Pffft. Read it again. I seem to think that most any homeowners or residents along any given road couldn't afford to put in and maintain that road at their cost.

And I bet they'd be just as pissed off at me if I put in a 25mph limit on a road that's 35 or 40 elsewhere and a camera to go with it for extra money.

Don't lump Jersey drivers in there with the NY drivers. Jersey drivers are the best goddam drivers in the country.

And I 70 / I 68 in Maryland has to be the f'in WORST place in the country for this. I mean, their clusterfucks are like a mile long.

I'm guessing rather than playing in the street, they are playing
in front yards and driveways (ever have a basketball hoop on the garage?).

Sometimes kids run into the street to retrieve balls or even ride their bikes on the street

how fast did you want to go through a residential neighborhood?
    40?
    50?

He's a very important man. He has places to be, things to do, farts to catch.

Nope. Walked to the park where they had 8 hoops.

Exactly. neighborhood design that makes you either play in a narrow driveway or get into a car to go to a venue.

In the very same neighborhood there is a 'no playing in the street' ordinance so that any kid spotted on a skateboard or a BMX bike (not provably commuting) will get hassled by cops.

When it's the only artery into town? You tell me.

Go ahead, ridicule the working man who doesn't have a motorcade to avoid limits and fines. That's all right, everyone else does too.

Good on you for walking to the park. Some kids in America have basketball hoops on their garage.

'no playing in the street' ordinance. So, are they playing in the street or not?

Only artery or not, I know more than one guy that would pull you out of your car and beat the living shit out of you for going 50 in a residential neighborhood. No excuse for it. Unless you are 16 and just got your license and trying to be rad for your 14 year old girlfriend.

And really, is it really the only artery? Really? Your town has one street to get around on, and it goes through the rich neighborhood? This doesn't seem likely

And playing in the street or not, there are kids around. Ever heard of a school zone? They are 15 mph usually. Why? I can't figure it out. They don't seem to be having class in the middle of the road.

My former boss encouraged his kids to play in the street. They used to live on a cul desac(if I don't spell it this way it automatically comes up as a steep & cheep link), & when they had to move to a different street that had flow through traffic, he found it too difficult to change his kids behavior, so he let them do what they had always done, play in the street despite the fact that there was a park less than 3 blocks away.

If a kid runs out between some cars & you're driving on that side of the street at 25,odds are high that you're going to run them over. I ran over a dog this way. The woman opened her car door & it ran right out in front of me.There was no time to react. While I felt sory for her ,I was very angry at her.

I consider this to be typical of what's wrong with our society. We expect others to watch out for our kids, instead of teaching them properly or watching out for them ourselves!

I like to drive slow in the fast lane. I don't have to worry about traffic in front of me slowing me down. All day long it's just empty roads in front of me.

I agree with you on Maryland, but having taken a many ski trips I fear for my life when I see the yellow plate. Probably most classic NJ driver memory in my mind.

I was driving back from I believe Mt. Snow, somewhere in Vt. On a one lane road that has a few inches of new snow yet to be plowed. There is one car definitely driving too slow. A NJ Audi and NJ Jeep behind it and then me. The third car back, the Jeep tries to pull out and pass both cars, as soon as it gets parallel with the Audi, the Audi tries to pass this car and the two NJ cars nearly lost it. Honestly my NJ sense was going apeshit before all this and luckily I gave my self that extra room from that clusterfuck.

Different auto-driver peeve... Just need to vent, as it's still pissing me off a week later.

    Dear Douchenozzle,

I would just like to give a thank you to the woman of the Dodge Durango from last week. I really do owe you a debt of gratitude for making eye contact with me as I go 45mph (the speed limit) down the road, and then you pull out of your driveway causing me to pounce on the brakes. What furthers my debt of gratitude is the part where you decided to accelerate like a snail, and reach a maximum of 35mph. That dry, wide-open straight road that day was truely treacherous and I applaud your efforts in keeping me and my automobile safe. The possibility of being late for work is a small price to pay for my lasting safety.

    Thanks again.

    Sincerely,
    Steve Clark
