    O.K., I have lived in:
    Vermont
    Chicago
    Baltimore
    NYC
    Syracuse
    London
    Strasbourg (FR)
    Denver
    Boulder
    S.F.
    L.A.
    Winter Park
    Telluride
    Lima (Peru)
    and now Driggs, Idaho.

I would STILL choose Vancouver, if they would have me.
Grenoble would be cool, and Christchurch would be awesome, (but they aren't cities).
If Austin TX could move to Durango, I'd be there.
Oh, and toss in an ocean to displace Arizona.
    BTW, PMac, Pheonix SUX.
I don't know of any single redeeming quality of that hot shithole, besides South Mountain trails.
And sweet, partying poontang...has that skewed your perceptions?

Rideit, the women definately skew my perception. The fact that it is so hot that they walk around practically naked doesn't hurt. I like the fact that it is BIG. Spread out urban sprawl mmmm mmm mmmmmmm. Bigger than LA and I'm pretty sure any other "city" land area wise... (edit: I guess Houston is bigger, but texas sucks)

Well, I do grant you that scantily clad hotties and great food IS a draw...but you LIKE sprawl?

I simply don't get that, at all....unless you are completely kidding.

I do like Tuscon a little bit, tho'...

I don't like high rises, but it's hard to really like sprawl heh, but that's the way both Tucson and PHX happened....
Tucson is nice, but after living there 10 years, I'd like to give Phoenix a try since they actually build new freeways and stuff.

Berlin and Hamburg are pretty cool, but I couldn't settle in either for ever. I like Köln too, but I think the same. All three are a bit too far from the beach and mountains.

I could live in Paris, if I could afford to enjoy it. Which I guess I could, but it would take some work. Although I haven't been to Toulouse, it looks like it has potential, 2 hours to the Atlantic coast, 2 hours to the Pyrennes, 4 hours to the alps and from people I've spoken to it seems like a good city.

I could live in Melbourne, maybe in Sydney.

I couldn't live in SLC. It is one of the most depressing cities I've been to. All strip malls and SUVs. Love the mountains, but couldn't do it to myself to live there. In fact, I can't think of anywhere in North America where I would move at the minute. I like it there, but I think I wouldn't last anything more than a year.

Another place I could live in would be Rio de Janeiro... Incredible party city, and how amazing is the scenery... Brazilian babes? I think so.
Security issues are so exagerated by the media too...

I loved Buenos Aires, but just like Paris, it is too urban for me (unless I lived in Tigre or somewhere like that). The architecture, historical places, etc...gets boring compared to seeing mountains everyday. And yes, argentinian women are the best, italian and latino at the same time.

I was going to say Barcelona - great weather, beautiful city, good food, not that far from the mountains.

    And some fine looking women.

Probably 75-80, at 64 now. Looks like the weather window is closing earlier this season and I have not been organized enough throughout the year to make this tax season smooth.

Geneva seems like it should be in the running. Prime location to hit up various destinations in the alps. As for the US. Denver, Seattle, and SLC are top. NYC is tops for city attractions, but having to get on a plane to ski powder sucks. Sounds like I need to check out portland and vancouver.

I always liked Chicago. Whether I could live there or not is another thing. Short flights to Denver and SLC though.

Don't know about the rain comparison, but Vancouver's traffic seems way worse than Seattle's. And that's saying something.

Not a bit. There's traffic, but not nearly as bad as Seattle. Could not live in Seattle.

Or Denver or SLC either. Sure, there's skiing nearby, but they are ugly cities with a distinctly middle america culture.

Either you haven't been to Denver lately, or you haven't been to the midwest. I don't know which.

that's about all for now. I'm still trying to get my arms around the nod to Philly. Isn't it a USAir hub, too? better food than NYC, SF, and Chicago is just plain crazy talk.

acostiga, I beat you to it.

A few 55-degree days in March doesnt mean itll be an early end to the season.

Wawa!! Ha, forgot about that place.
I think #5 and #14 are the same--revise your shitty list It also leaks oil and nasty all over the place, and walking around you can taste it. #9 and #10 are always fun. #15--Boston is too spread out??? Have you been to Boston?!?!

Hmmmm, interesting. I wouldnt call that super frugal, and it still sounds like you make a nice salary... Which is awesome, dont get me wrong. But you listed multiple trips over $500--Im happy if I get two trips a year spending $500-$700 each. One in the winter (usually to visit BenWA to ski WA) and one in the 'other' season (either to visit BenWA to hike/mtb in BC or to the Carib to sail).

I guess I could do it if all I did was ski. But I have a few other filthy habits, like mountain biking, sailing, and photography. I should really work on my golf game and I could really round out my list of expensive cracker-ass sports.

Christchurch is a great town. Ive spent a few weeks there on stand by to fly south, and its got a great climate, nice people, and its got the big/small feel thing going on. And its within a short drive of all of the south island, which is basically the biggest playground ever. Although if you were living in CHCH just for city life, it could probably get old pretty quick...

The "good food" argument seems a little spurious. Any big city is going to have a wide variety of good food.

I beg to differ...Santiago has notoriously awful food, on average. It is actually hard to find great food, even while searching.
