You could always go to a North Stars, oops, a Dallas Stars game. Sorry, still a little pissed off about that move by the Stars, haven't been an NHL fan since. My personal opinion is that if the general population can't figure out offsides and icing, then they shouldn't have a team. That's just me I guess.

    Hey soop,
Coincidentally, I have a 4 day Texas work sentence this coming week. I have to head to Houston as well, and I'm not sure what I have going on in Dallas, but it is entirely possible we could hook up for some beers.

ANON-505's Mom said she'll do that for me. I have several sales calls scheduled at her place to sell her a bunch of black 15" dildos....she said something about ANON-505 not being able to please her anymore

Fogo de Chao is good but you better be prepared to drop some coin.
Another good barbeque place is Sonny Bryan's, and they seem to be located all over the area. I know for sure that there is one in Downtown.

Nice PM you sent, Supergaping Poohole.

You never fail to be completely predictable. You're going to kick my ass, and I'm now banned from the TGR forums b/c I insulted a cool kid, blah blah blah.

It was a joke, regarding you being a desk jockey. Apparantly it struck quite a nerve, eh?

Nothing. I spent the entire summer in texas and loathed every minute. San Antonio has some good eats, besides that, zilch.

as far as eating goes, if you can make it to Ft. Worth (which you should be able to) you ought to go to Uno's Pizzeria. best pizza i've had, its chicago style (theres only 2 and the other is in .... you guessed it) its downtown.

if your flying i doubt theres much to do unless you like to fish. and thats not really going to be great this time of the year.

but like already said the nightlife is good. go to deep ellum theres always atleast one good show going on there.

Dude, that's a chain, and not the best either. If your going to do it right hit a killer steakhouse (expense to co. since it's biz) or BBQ.

Su Pu where are you staying? I've been here a year (north Dallas ) might be able to help.

If Dallas is bad, then Fort Worth is worse...don't bother crossing over into Tarrent County

And ditto to what Particle said about the Deep Ellum and Lower Greenville areas. It's always been the cool place to go for music and drinking....as far back as I can remember.

When you get in town grab a copy of the Dallas Observer (it's just like the LA Weekly) and that should give you a good idea as to what's happening in the Metroplex that week.

Anyway a few gems not to be missed:
If you want to do the party/music/hang-out scene, check out Lower Greenville and Deep Ellum.

Deep Ellum also has one of my favorite tex-mex spots:
    Pepe's & Mito's Mexican Cafe
    2911 Elm St, Dallas, TX

Seconded. Lived there for a summer out of college with my parents. Deep Elum is fun, strip clubs totally rock there and have very hot chics, head over to Fort Worth and the Stockyards and really get your "country" on. That place is crazy, but again, hot cowgirls everywhere.

Or you could go drink beer and play golf with my dad, he is 6 miles from Texas Motor Speedway.

i lived there for 12 years. there is great eating in dallas. As far as places to go to hang out or drink. Addison is really the best place for bars. My fav is a place called Sherlocks, 5100 Belt Line Road, Addison,972.661.0774. On sunday nights its $2 you call its. Normally pretty busy alot of people and a band. Theres also a few other bars in the area that are good too.

If you are in the downtown area, your prob going to want to be in the west end. Thats where most of the stuff happens. Thats about the long of the short of it, dallas sucks for the most part.

SuPu, at least you are not stuck in Alliance, NE (the location of my next project) where their claim to fame is Carhenge, there are only 3 bars in town, none of which are titty bars.

Ah, Dallas. Lived there for 7 years before moving to Colorado. The land of spending 125% of your income.... Hmmmm, all there really is to do in Dallas is eat, drink and hookup. One thing to remember, the women of Dallas are much more impressed if you say you are a Tax Attorney or Plastic Surgeon rather than a 14er climbing outdoor guy who can kill mountain lions with his bare hands. Often, they'll ask 1) what you do, 2) what you drive and 3) what your name is.... in that order. Remember, Dallas has a 3 to 1 female to male ratio and most of the women are hunting for prospective husbands. Also, outdoor recreation in Dallas means going to a strip mall or golf (monumental waste of water IMHO) and extreme sports are what their Bubba husbands do with ATVs when they "commune" with nature.

Some of my favorites places in Dallas where you are apt for find more authentic people:

The Dubliner - good Irish pub. They actually shipped two existing pubs from Ireland to make this joint. Not touristy. Decent place to hookup.
    http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...7895974&dtab=0

The Cock and Bull - another good Irish pub though it does sound like a redneck gay bar from its name come to think of it. Small pace. Used to have great food when I was there. Not a good place to hookup. There was a good jazz club (The Balcony Club) behind it when I lived there in '99. Authentic jazz not some fru fru mak e believe jazz joint. They usually have a good band there.
    http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...74780040001882

Cafe Madrid - Great Spanish restaurant. Get the oxtail stew.
    http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...17722508470400

Oh ya, Dallas has some of the best topless joints around. I was never big on them but seemed to end up there after business dinners.

Cabaret Royale - Nice place. Lots of drunk Japanese businessmen and the occasional lady checking out some boobs. Nicer joint.
    http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...06992785613951

The suburbs are disgusting. Rampant consumerism and chain restaurants. Avoid if possible. Downtown has a resurgence in the past 5 years from what I hear. Lower Greenville Ave. was always a good place to bar hop.

Ooohhh that reminds me. You need to go over to Ft. Worth, and go to Billy Bob's just for the culture shock value. It's a huuuuuge honky tonk, something like 3 concert stages, countless individual bars, and an inside rodeo rink. Been at least 10 years since I've been but hell if you're in Texas might as well right?

If you can't hit Uno's there is also a place by the name of "Applebees" there too. It's pretty good.
