Hey, I am heading to Whistler tomorrow. Is it worth bringing skis and skins, or not yet? I'll check the mountain cams later but am hoping for local beta.
Thanks!

your best bet for touring would be off the Duffy. Plan on walking up 5k of verticle for not many turns on the glacier.

Freezing level 3000m. Yuck.
At this point, pray for a Thanksgiving opening. Hate to be pessimistic, but the freezing levels are too high for the next week.
Pass in hand...Praying...
Definitely praying, whatever coverage there is up there now its looking like it we be melted away by the rain by Monday (10 degrees WTF?).
Hard to believe this time last year we were skiing a foot of pow up there.
Sadly it's still bring your bike season.
It's snowing right now at base 2 ... but it's going to rain the rest of the week.![]()

Is it time to panic yet? This feels uncomfortably like the season before last: cold high pressure; warm low pressure; cold high pressure; warm low pressure; ...repeat until mid-March...
Facts are simple and facts are straight
Facts are lazy and facts are late
It sounds like there's a good chance of us breaking the SW flow for a more W/NW one after the storm they are predicting for Sun/Mon... a ways out, so not reliable, but I'm still not worried yet. *crosses fingers* *knocks on wood*
It's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care.
pffft.. this season will be friggen epic.... record breaking sickness..
..on the top 100 vertical feet.
below that.. well.. shit, i dunno.
but the top 100 feet... redonkulous..
stick that in the almanac and smoke it.

Yes...what he said...
We all know it can turn on a dime, but that does not stop us worrying about those damn early November rollercoaster freezing levels...Looking at the weather, looks like we could be in for a bit of a cool down mid next week. Fingers crossed. I still feel we have a way to go...
After Monday (which is going to be ridiculously warm) things look much better.

snowforecast.com is a little less bleak, 70cm at the top by saturday afternoon
Webcams look like about 5cm on the ground at the moment, even a dusting of snow in the village. Me and some friends are hoping to get a booter session in on sunday, if sufficient snowfall. Anyone have any beta on a good place to go, we're both new to the Vancouver area?
The weather is completely normal for this time of year. Last year was a rarity. They're be snow for opening day.
Generally, they don't get enough snow to open until about 1 week prior to opening. It doesn't take long; remember last season the intial dump was only over (2) days, then it dried off a bit.
I find the long range forcast generally sets the freezing level higher than it actually would be. YMMV.
cams look like theres is some snow coming down pray it doesnt turn to rain witch it is supposed to because of ungodly high freezing levels coming monday but i agree with mechmaster this is total normal for this time or year
I just bought a new pair of sticks today, and my stoke-o-meter is still way up!
No need to get worried, as someone said before it took 3 days of puking for blackcomb to open last season and then it was pretty eventless until january, so keep your hopes high up and stay stoked!![]()
snowed down to squamish. roads were treachorous. I'm thinking of going to long beach for opening weekend instead and surfing
Snowed a bit in Lillooet today, apparently enough snow fell west of here that people couldn't get back to seton portage (west of Lillooet) and are spending the night here.
Good call on surfing Lee, was there last weekend and it was so good i'm heading back over on monday.
just had a white knuckle drive from pemby to whistler. its been snowing really hard all day and not one road was plowed. I counted 1/2 dozen cars in the ditch off 99 and 3 times that parked IN THE ROAD with hazzards on! I managed well in the subie, but it still took me over an hour. stay home if you dont have to be out.
