Been skiing the wildcat 116s recently. Finding them a bit too lively for my liking. Seems as though going through chop I feel bounced around quite a bit. Almost like if you had the rebound on a bikes suspension turned up to high. Anyone else have this experience? Maybe ski just needs broken in more?

Bought a used pair which were “broken in” but that’s the same reason I didn’t jive with them. Stiff and overly reactive. Glad they work for some folks. Not my jam.

I remember seeing a comment somewhere someone having the same experience on the 108 WCs. I also picked up a pair of fatcats this season hoping that twitchiness would be negated by the wider footprint and increased weight vs 108s. Blister guys also did another review of the fatcats not long ago and didnt seem to have that issue.... Have yet to break out my fatcats this season so I guess I shall see.

Were the used pair the only ones you tried or did you also try a new pair? Did you like the deathwish any more?

Tempting. I’m waiting on my one-ninety-fours, but I keep wondering if I would’ve been better off with the one-eighty-sixes.

I’m also thinking that I’ll like both lengths. Maybe use the one-eighty-sixes with pin bindings? In that case, I would rather just wait until next year when the top sheet changes again so I have something different to look at when switching between lengths.

With the GT being a reserve ski there is absolutely no guarantee there will be a drop next year.

You know, moment should give you a commission of some sorts. Anyways, while that’s a good point, at only ten % off — I’m willing to hold out and hope that they keep making drops in the future

I had my grimy mits on some 194 GTs the other day when I was dropping off my core shotted Bananas for some surgery. Fortunately they are sold out and I need skinnier skis not fatter at the moment.

How much have you de-tuned them? Don't be afraid to heavily detune 3-4" past the wide points of the tips and tails, then moderately detune the rest of the ski too. The latest version is high strung but that power is what makes it so capable in junked up 3D snow. Stay centered and ski it fast, you'll adjust to the suspension and hopefully love it as much as many of us do.

Counter point. Wildcats today were amazing all day at Kirkwood in more and more cut up chop. So stable when you need them to be. So manageable in the trees and steeps.

Wildcat is a chop destoyer, so something is probably off with your setup...

Are you on too small of a size?

Have you checked the tune - especially the base with a true bar?

Thanks for the suggestions. I did detune pretty far back and I do find them to be pretty maneuverable. Mainly just find them to be too lively for me. I haven't had the base checked but it seems pretty even, though I wouldn't expect that to exactly cause the bumpy ride through chop. Maybe I'm just a bit too light/unskilled for these skis. I'm on the 184s at 5ft 9. As a comparison, have skies rustler 11s in 180 and found them to be much more manageable and stable, though with definitely less pop.

Anywho, due to the weird winter and dialing in other skis, I finally got my Meridians back on snow yesterday. I have been on Jeffrey 110, Countach 110, Meridian tour and Bananas this season. I was immediately reminded what a great ski the Meridian is.

Skied the Countach one-ten for two days over the weekend at Heavenly Valley in and out of bounds. Safe to say, I'm very happy with my purchase. Also, just received the one-oh-four that I need to mount, and of course, ski.

How do the Ghost Trains and Chipotle Bananas compare? I've skied the Meridians and Deathwish 112s. Would y'all say its a similar comparision - just with a wider waist? Any other things to note?

I believe this got covered pretty well a few pages back regarding GT vs CB. Some good beta in here. I had the CB and asked the same question.

if the meridians and the deathwish fucked and had a baby that would be the trains. The trains float like no other. They float better than the bananas. Where trains will float above any kind of snow or shitty conditions the bananas will plow through shit snow. The Trains pivot on a dime like the meridians as will bananas. Trains are super playful like a meridian but they lack the straight crud busting balls that the banana have. That's not to say they can't hold their own in crud and chop but the bananas definitely shine above the trains in those conditions. Trains will float above, bananas will blast through. The bananas are very playful like the trains but lack the grip in firm or icy base conditions that the trains have because of the triple camber. The trains will hold their own on groomers on the way back down to the lifts where bananas will just survive. As similar as they are is as different as they are. If you're looking for something that will float like no other and have grip in firm Conditions than the train is for you. If you want something that's going to blast through everything then the banana is for you. Fun wise they're both on even playing fields. Both super playful and both super pivoty. Some people have complained that the banana doesn't float as they expected for a 122. That's where the train shines. Some have complained that the train doesn't blast through stuff. That's where the banana shines.

Can someone tell me which pivot brake size for the Countach one-oh-four, 100 or 105. I'm thinking the 100 might work better, and have less gap. Thanks,
Edit: nevermind, apparently they don't make a 100mm brake.

I put 95mm on my DW104, so if youre choosing between those two, 100?
