Toured Pocket Crk today and hit it with about 10” of cream at the upper zones. The lower tree zone is bushwhack city & needs to fill in. Stable conditions were primo.

Upper zone [don’t know riders but they illustrate conditions][they caught & passed me right at the top (& I needed to rest before skiing) — these kids and their “fitness” !!! <shake fist at clouds>. Otherwise pretty quiet outing with few people.]

Damn, good for you. I started on Sky - viz from top to getback was total Ski-by-Braille. ‘Twas good in the lower parks though, as all of the features are gone while these storms are coming thru and the trees gave some definition.

Couldn’t see PMX from top of Sky so didn’t head further west. Ran into friends with OOT visitors so went to CCX. Same CSS viz.

You’re a brave man riding OBX & NWX after yesterday’s debacle. Guy I know was on the Roulette Wheel yesterday AM when it had an emergency stop. Said his butt lost contact with the chair bench at the top of the rope rebound - was convinced that the safety bar was the only thing that kept him from launching into space. Then he got to sit there for 45 min while they got everyone to the top on diesel.

Lift lines were non-existent. Maybe the word of how unreliable NWX has been has scared people off.

We’ve been socked in by storms most of this season. They may get it open late next week when there’s a break in the fronts.

Not too bad on Bachelor this morning. Did the early ups on Red this morning. Groomers were stellar with 3" on top. Very firm underneath with the bit of rain that came down yesterday morning. Off-piste was a bit dicey. I helped out a patroller who had hit a giant death cookie lurking underneath the 3" of fresh and retrieved her pole. So, I got my Karma points for the day. Was dumping pretty good when I left. Have a bit of tendinitis in my left wrist and didn't want to make it worse by over doing it.

A couple of years ago Interloper and I watched a patroller trying to ski and use his radio at the same time. And failed with both. Not a hard crash, no ski ejected, but it was a face plant.

Being Good Samaritans, we immediately skied over to him and asked”Are you ok sir? Do you require assistance? (Pulling out my phone) Should we call patrol to bring a sled?”

He was quite embarrassed but OK. So when we later saw another patroller we described what happened and asked her to check in with her colleague at the end of the day. She grinned and promised she would.

I’m sure he appreciated that…

Haha. The 'troller did a 180 and augured in head downhill with her ski tails sticking into the snow, ironically in an "X" pattern. She simply said, "I'm stuck!". Her patrol buddies were downhill securing some padding around one of the OBX lift towers.

Supposed to warm up a bit tomorrow, so could be interesting depending on where the snow line is.

I thought off piste was better today, especially frontside, since the groomers didnt compact the rain saturated base. Looking forward ti tomorrow.

Snowpack depth gradient between 4k (basically zero) and 5k (3-5 feet) on the west slope is pretty incredible. Hopefully after Junuary we get less rain above pass elevations.
