The joke is on Montucky. Give it a couple of years and it's going to be the MAGAturds protesting DOGE cutting their benefits and fucking up their lives.

    Wagon Stoke

Seconded on the Benz wagons. A year ago, I got a twenty-seventeen E four hundred pretty loaded and fifty-two K on the clock for $thirty-two K. Things to watch for: leaky airbags on the rear suspension and peeling MB-tex seats. Mine has leather and no issues with the air suspension.

ETA: most people (including non-MB dealers) will advertise leather when it’s actually MB-tex. Use a VIN decoder to get the build sheet.

Poor critter looked like it ate a grenade.
My son’s been driving it at school for last few years it’s been bombproof. Haven’t spent time in it for that long until a bunch of miles over the last week . Do miss the combination of weight size power comfort and control. Not a canyon burner but god damn freight train once it’s rolling. And come on, those seats!
Five cylinder turbo all day long. Got me seriously considering finding another one of same vintage. Or a v8 xc90.

I buy cars mostly based on the seats. When I bought an ‘aught-four Acura TL, I sat in Lexus, Audi, BMW, and Benz. Acura had the best seats so I bought it. Similar when I bought a ‘twelve Volvo S-sixty. Like Aldo said, those seats. Best I’ve ever owned.

I always thought my Volvo seats were the shizzle but in fact my Cayenne seats are super comfortable because of the seating angle. So yeah, sitting in them makes a lot of sense

Sat in a 2022 Macan S recently, I'd say the seats are comparable to the Volvo's. Very nice.

After we sent the XC70 away, we picked up an '08 XC60 (also silver) with the Yamaha V8, that car was big fun. A little thirsty, but we had no problems with it and it could literally tear up a vertical sheet of ice with studded Hakkas. I don't know how my wife didn't end up with a stack of tickets while driving it, the chick's got a lead foot.

Agreed! We've been more than thrilled with our 2015. Has proven to be amazingly reliable over the last 20K+ we've already put on it and has all the fancy tech I'd want from a modern vehicle. Honestly, for being 10 years old now, it's crazy how up to par it is with the newer stuff, except we've come to PREFER it with its more reasonable amount of screen real estate versus the newer rolling iPads that most newer cars have become. Can't recommend the platform enough. 10/10 would buy again. Glad you got me turned on to them, 4Matic!

What's the word on those benz e 350 engines ? Have they addressed balance shaft issues that use to cripple them ? I live the look and they seem like a lot of bang for $

There is a year that they got it resolved by, and you can search the mb forums to figure out serial number if affected or not. If you are looking at the w212 era, I believe that had them all sorted by then.

    From the272 engine Wikipedia page.
M272 engines that were sold between 2004[1][2] and 2008 with engine serial numbers below 2729..30 468993 often show early wear of the balance shaft gears, requiring extensive repairs at a retail cost of over $4,000.[3][4] These complaints led to a class action lawsuit against Mercedes-Benz (Greg Suddreth and Paul Dunton v. Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC), which alleged the M272 engines are equipped with defective balance shafts gears which "wear out prematurely, excessively and without warning, purportedly causing the vehicles to malfunction, the check engine light to illuminate and the vehicle to misfire and/or stop driving."[5] The suit further alleged that Mercedes knew of this problem, sending out repair bulletins on how to address this issue and ultimately changing the balance shaft gears to avoid this problem. This suit was ultimately dismissed with the judge agreeing with Mercedes that because the gears fail at 60 -80K miles and outside of the warranty period, Mercedes is not legally responsible for these problems.[6]

Agree with someone above, stay away from 4 cylinder turbo motors. I like smooth v6 and V8 naturally aspirated power delivery.
On the e91 and e61 bmw 3 and 5 series wagons, they are nice, the 5er we had was lots of electrical issues. The 3er was decent, both leaked oil from oil pan gasket, and will require other work to seal up leaks, but the non turbo n52 motor is pretty durable if a bit leaky. Super smooth and responsive as well.
I've driven a couple of w212 sedans and a couple of w211 sedans (not wagons, but same car) and they are nice, not as sporty to drive as the BMWs. I am back in my second bmw after trying a very nice Mercedes w212 e550. The bimmers are just nicer to drive in my opinion. For the mercs, the interior appointments on the w212 is far superior to the w211. Both are nice cars, but the 212 really feels like a high end car inside.

I agree with the person who said no audi. I researched em a bit again before buying my current 5er, and just keep coming across shit that is a hard no for me. They look nice. But not going there.

The advantage of turbo motors is that they don't lose power at high altitude.

I don't mind driving a turbo, but I really don't want to own one.

LMAO. Anybody else ever notice that it is the kinds of people who use their finger to block the license plate in their photos who also have the most clapped out cars for sale? Perhaps an outward sign of not giving a damn.

It's painful to watch somebody put a lot of money and work into a very mediocre, but rare, car.
I'm sure finding parts for that thing is a pain in the ass, but at the end of the day, with all the work he has done, he still has a crappy old car that isn't collectible or worth much.

It's even funnier when they go to move on from their money pit and then dig their heels into the ground.
