Worst ski year of my life.

My daughter was born that winter. Skied 3 days.

Honestly, it was a great learning season though, because I began to appreciate quantity over quality, as in the best ski season is the one where you ski a lot. I learned not to stress over conditions, lack of snow, etc (I'm the anti-montanaskier), and instead to just be glad to get out.

That’s become my attitude now, believe it or not. I’m more stoked to get out skiing a lot with my daughter these days than hitting every single powder day, as well as just being happy to be out.

ABasin did look good but work had to be done. Glad some of you all got out there.

I used my parking pass for 5 straight days from 12/28-1/1. Early Riser didn't fill until 10am, sometimes later. Place was empty. Reminded me of the season where Ikon was blacked out over the holidays.

Today was deep and completely empty. We were still finding untracked lines at 3pm. Going to enjoy it while I can as I'm sure there are big changes coming for next season.

I talk to other friends who ski Keystone/Copper/Breck. So funny to hear them talking about how horrible the holidays are and how they don't even ski till after New Years because of the crazy crowds and traffic. Meanwhile, we are skiing straight onto the lift from our tailgates and have this chill little ski area all to ourselves. I'm done trying to convince them on the basin. If they can't figure it out they deserve to hate skiing.

Unfortunately I had to take a day off to make some money and let the legs rest.

Was able to do a few pali runs before work this morning and it was worth the effort. Pretty amazing stuff out there

I am somewhat interested to see if the Zuma opening hype will fill high noon (or more) tomorrow. Have a feeling this will be a big weekend around summit in general with the front range crowds coming up. I'll be resting up the next couple days though as I tweaked my back a little yesterday.

Yeah, should be interesting to see how that all plays out.

For those who have gone on the weekends: how does it work? Do you get stopped at the gate and you show your reservation?

No, you dont usually talk to anyone. They scan your plate either when you come in or while you are parked. Pretty easy. Kinda nice to be able to show up at 10 or 11 on a Saturday and know you will get a spot.

That was what I loved about the reservation system that eldora used to run during covid.

Oh nice. So the backup onto 6 should be somewhat minimal.

Well, I haven't gotten there early. Not sure what that's like, but I haven't had any issues or seen any backups or anything.

There’s two vehicle lanes. One for them to check if you carpooled with 4 people and the other for non carpool. They have everyone go into the opposite entrance as you normally do for early riser. Haven’t seen any backup yet but if people actually do show up without a reservation that could change.

    Holy shit show Friday.

Will be interesting to see if tomorrow is more chill due to parking ($) rez requirement

Pretty stoked that I bailed on the last couple of days despite there being some new snow out there. Seemed like a total goat rodeo (lol) on the roads and with lingering holiday crowds around summit. Gonna hold out through the weekend and get some week days in next week.

I will say, paying for parking will never be cool, but the system they are running right now is at least pretty efficient so far on paid days.

Friday was the first crowded day (if you can call 5min waits crowded). On my way up, Keystone had signs that all lots (including the shuttle lots) were full. Didn't make the Zuma open.

Friday was the busiest day of the season I was told.

    Fortunately, yesterday was perfect.
