Pretty tired of major announcements affecting my ski seasons every year. 30 year Basin skier and I feel like a proverbial frog being slowly brought to a boil. Al can eat a bag of dicks. Alterra can too. Fuckers. Like can I just go skiing like normal? Without constantly thinking about all the options and bullshit and money?

Nah, just tired of it, a little burnt out and bitter. Maybe I'm finally making the turn to wanting to do other shit than just mountain shit all the time. Meh.

Too much to think about Too much to figure out Stuck between hope and doubt Too much to think about, uh-huh. I am prioritizing steep terrain and minimal hassles with lift lines and parking. A basin has delivered. I think i just decided no to full ikon and yes to A basin only pass. I also do not want to be thinking about it for months. Will the mountain collective half price benefit for A basin passes be around next year? Hard to imagine I would come out ahead with full ikon if so. Probably a toss up.

answering my own question. A basin not on mountain collective for 25-26. so no benefit with A-basin only pass

Don't love the continued paid parking but new they weren't going back once they started getting that revenue. I'm happy w unlimited since I've gotten the full Ikon for the last handful of years and w a kid starting at U of U in the fall this is a no brainer.

At $650 for AB and another $650 for MC you are basically paying the same money for way less options. Losing the MC discount sucks too. BTW Monarch days are blacked out every weekend and holiday of almost the whole season. They don't really mention that fact ever. Spend $1300+ and still have to pay $20 for parking on weekends? Or have to pay $150 if they'll even let you buy a parking pass for the privilege to reserve a parking spot. Jesus H Christ! I'll probably just buy a Basin only pass, and their stupid parking pass. Is the water boiling yet? Silverton does offer a pass that gives some days at LL, Monarch, Powderhorn, Taos, etc. Maybe I'll pick up one of those.

Got a late start today, around 1030ish and thought we were going to be screwed. Dropped kids and wife off via 10 min parking and got a spot in the last chance lot. Parking guys said today was first official parking sellout. I thought it had before but point being ABasin was at capacity.

We waited in lines before lunchtime, but really pretty minimal. Less than 10 mins. Maybe even less than 5. Skiing was great. Some expected back ups on the green runs, but no crowd outside the groomers.

All this suggest to me that, in general, as an A-basin skier, we are spoiled, because the place fucking rocks. I don't think there will be as big of a bump in crowds from Ikon as everyone fears. Even then, I dont think the average Ikon pass holder will be stealing the goods out from under anyone here. The minimal crowd at such a great mountain an hour away from Denver just shows that the average weekend warrior heads to an Epic resort and/or cant ski that well and Abasin doesn't have much to offer them.

$20 parking is a bit of a drag, but if it helps Abasin limit capacity, that's a better outcome for everyone skiing there. $20 isn't what it once was. I bet the average rate to park for a Broncos/Rookies game is 2-3x that. Just for some perspective.

Just trying to be a glass half full kinda guy.

I completely agree. Just finishing up at the bell and it was like a day from the 90s. think NR critiques are psyops. So I will delete this post in a couple hours.

Well, I didnt ski today. I worked so that I can hopefully afford a pass next year. .

I will be out tomorrow. Maybe my attitude will change. But if I dont get a damn parking pass because I buy a $1350 Ikon pass. Or I pay $800 for just Abasin. Wtf. For the amount I ski there, at $20 a pop, I’d be paying over $1000 a season in parking. Or I take the bus.

First world problems at their finest.

Somehow I did not see next year pass perks details. One twenty five dollar lift ticket for a friend any day no black outs. Three days at Monarch no black outs. Fifty dollar credit for lift tickets, retail, events, or rentals. Linked below but that will probably be a mess in the post. These are all things I would use. Still no answer on if A basin passholders can get a season pass for parking again.https://www.arapahoebasin.com/pass-b...NhnI4ylyE1J7Uw

Nice chalky snow in The Alleys/Waterfall and in the Beavers. Upper East Wall wasn’t looking so good from below. Could use some more snow up there.

For anyone that went on the weekend this year, how was the parking reservation experience? How far in advance did your reserve? Do you know if reservations could be available the day before?
Asking to determine if I want an Abasin Pass for next year.

It was lovely.&nbsp; I got a reservation the morning of skiing after arriving at loveland to a full parking lot.&nbsp; My understanding is that parking never sold out this year even once.&nbsp; $20 is small potatos for avoiding what once was a huge shitshow every weekend.&nbsp; &nbsp;</p>

I bought the season parking pass and have gone mostly weekends. So I end up looking at the reservation site a couple of times a week. I've never seen any date on the calendar unavailable and have also reserved morning of. I heard reservations filled this past saturday for first time. If that's true it was filled from friday night or saturday morning reservations because there were spots available on friday.

I asked if Ikoners would be able to buy a parking pass next season and they said they would be able to. Yes, last Saturday did fill up. Weekends are getting busier, even Monday was pretty busy in the lot and on the beach, lifts were dead though. FYI if you buy an Abasin or Ikon pass for next season, you will get access this season after 3/31. That could make the place pretty fucking busy this spring. Ugh. We will see.

yeah I would guess weekends will be busy for the next month, after that its hard to say and may depend what weather does from denver to moab. week days seem to have a lot of folks on the beach with work parties or something and then in april end of season parties and whatnot.wonder if they will do a few more parking passes for next year, I got one and it appears I have used it 13 times, but I have talked to a number of people who were shut out. will try to get one again and going to go ikon I suppose. a trip and some copper days sprinkled in make it worth it. nice to have the option to go ski copper in december when the basin can be a bit limiting unless they're having a big early season snow wise.

A-Basin skiers can eat a bag of dicks

I haven’t been following but are any beach spaces free these days or do all require a reservation and fee?

Oh that’s good. I figured they’d had all gone the way of reservations with fee. There’s so few ski areas left with trail side parking like that.

skied open til 11 this morning and wasn't busy at all, zero line on pali. too cold for folks, all chased the 8" to winter park, between spring breaks, showed up after 11? who knows but the skiing is great right now even if we have seemed to hit the low end of the forecasts so far.
