Interesting, haven't been up top yet. One good dump and GD would be set up nicely. Forecast doesn't show much.

Check out the video Big Sky just posted on the gram. I actually skied a few laps with these cats while they were filming today. I shot a few stills. That kid could rip!

    Snow showers=Lone Mtn magic.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

A little more powder fever up there today. First tram didn’t load until 10:30 and it was Liberty Only. I think there were 30 of us in the first car and as soon as the door opened it was full on race to grab first tracks. I was about middle of the pack as I’m not that good at that game. Snow was fantastic though.

Second lap I was hoping to grab the Lenon (or Marx) rope drop but I missed it by one car. Skied down Liberty again, did a Shedhorn lap, then had to bail for work.

The mtn is in great shape. Just hope the big wind event tomorrow doesn’t blow all the snow away.

Oh and my buddy skied Bridger and said it was also good. Light crowds and great snow. Hindsight that would’ve been the call…or headed to the Bowl and or Challenger and got a few more turns in since I only had a couple of hours.

Overall though, it was a great couple of days of skiing.

First tracks on Elk Park Ridge were all time. The Bowl was fantastic for a couple laps for sure since it never opened yesterday. Did a Liberty and a Lenin with the kids, very deep nice snow, all the way down to Shedhorn. Great couple days of skiing. I needed it because I got roped into a beach vacation over Christmas so won't be back for awhile. Unless I decide to day trip Friday for the Madison 8 opening. I hear there's a free lunch at the One & Only too...

Your buddy is right, Bridger was great today.

Yep, got up there late at noon, but it was still good. Otter Slide is insanely filled in. Dictators was good. Exit Chute off the bowl was holding untracked until like 2 oclock. It's getting all wintery up there.

It was a good day to listen to Jimmy Buffett and ski powder.

Love when this thread is firing.

Rest day or two and then will be up for the 8 ball/Moonlight opener Friday. Anyone else heading up?

Likely a bad call but I will be skiing other areas of the mountain Friday. The MLB opener was tempting until I heard the first hour was VIP skiing and then the little people can load at 10:00 AM. Having the Madison 8 running will be huge for the coming holiday week.

VIP skiing!!! I had no idea but just checked and yep, skier access starts at 10. On the bright side, that gives us time to celebrate the One and Only Gondola!

    Man, I hate Big Sky

Flying into MT is always a hassle around the holidays, but this year I managed to arrange my wife’s flight into Bozeman Xmas Eve.

She’ll give me the stink eye if I pick her up in my long-johns with a pile of snowy gear in the back. But if Bridger is skiable I might make the trek from Helena….

I'm curious who those skiers were. Guy in green skis like Coombs. I recognize one local skier for sure - but there may have had out of town skiers mixed in for this shoot? Maybe not. Then at the end it's obv Schmidt, etc.

I'll be up on Friday for 8-Ball. Overheard it will be Lone Tree too. Should be good.

Nice shot; long views, good sense of snow texture, a subtle turn and especially the nanocracture above his left hand.

Ummm, is it original gangsta or zero grams? Both, neither? Depends on who's in that day's VIP group?

I'd bet the farm that's Doug at the beginning in the bright green, first 15 seconds. His style - forward hunched, tall, power planting the poles, short swing sashay, headband.

Dude in red blasting outta the trees (@1:10)and GSing the pow to control speed is quintessential 90's long ski big mountain bombing run. Beauty, eh?

Well, it works and has plenty of power….but…..I snapped an axle that I welded up. So took it all apart, buying a new axle that doesn’t require a weld. Long story. Building snowcats is hard
