A handsome and wise former patroller once shared the virtues of JB Weld for repairing core shots and early season damage became so much easier to manage.

It doesn't take long to accept that ALL skis are "rock skis" at Big Sky. Doesn't matter if early season/late season/fat year/thin year. If yer poking around yer skiing rocks sometimes. Just don't turn on em.

How do you know they are rock skis?

    They have bindings on them.

JB Marine Weld is what I've been using for years. Already repaired two core shots this season.

Planning on afternoon shift today, it's dumping down in town, can't wait to get up and see how it landed at the resort.

H2o proof, has a bit more flex and IMO it takes wax a little better.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

BB has been fantastic - light crowd, steady snow and no wind yet.

I got my first bs core shot in the late 90's so unfortunately know the drill. Broke a bone in my wrist going over a pile of shale there about ten years ago which definitely made me more cautious. Now I'm hoping to keep my 3 boys a little street smart as they like to venture a bit. Fingers crossed..

Was riding the chair with a Patroller at Snowbowl this week and we were talking about the low tide conditions and all the sharks lurking near the base. He referred to his skis as “tools, not jewels”. Hah!

Tell them to go first so they can find the rocks for you. 3 can cover a lotta ground. In a literal sense.

This is a model with the Bullseye over Bozeman. It translates better for BB than BS.

That bone crushing vid is suhweeeet!

    I love that shite.

Asshat clown had a boulevard of snow about 10 yards to his left. Maybe setting a launch point with a little directional marker would have entered his process, but no.

    Camera courage, baby! gitsum.

Been enjoying some overdue time in MT for the holidays and doing my usual running around, it saddens me about the state of things right now. I'm less than motivated to bother with Red Lodge given the current lift ticket prices. We'll see what happens with Sunday night's weather. Might need to pop up to Showdown if they receive a solid dump since at least THEY'RE still reasonably priced.

Here were the Crazies (looking more like a light September dusting) yesterday before I went down to Paradise Valley to spend some time at a now much more corporate Chico.

Hopefully I can run back up this Spring when the coverage tends to be much better anyway. I know it's early season and all but sheesh, this is one of the worst I can remember off hand.

Just sell your soul, first born, an organ and head to Pig $ty. It’s always on there. Even when it’s not.

Red Lodge in December? Uh, once in a blue moon it’ll be deep. $90 does seem a bit steep for that place. BB is supposedly $82 buying online. Way better skiing and terrain even in low tide, but some skills and conditioning are required.

Or again, just don your cowboy hat and boots, cheesy mustache, a big ole belt buckle and print off some new business cards to hand out and head to the biggest everything. Close the DEAL SON! Giddy up!

Paradise Valley is lost and gone friends.

    Yo Montucky,

Sent you a text. I’ve got a 25 percent off coupon at Big Sky if you want it.

Appreciate that, brother. If I were to go, I'd definitely need that! Just for giggles, I put lift tix (2 adults + 2 children) in the cart on the website and the total came out to $929.76 post tax, and that's not even including rentals and stuff for the wee ones. For ONE day. W... T... F...?

Bridger skiing hotter than a two peckered Billy goat today.

5 runs off the ridge in 4 hours. Kinda felt like I was back in college all sweaty, cold, managing foggy goggles and riding an endorphin high. You gotta be a dirty dawg to do all the hiking and keep your shit together for the skiing. Every hike gets you stronger. I gotta do more hikes.

Met up with an old friend for some whirlpool laps after hiking, she was getting loooooose in the crux. Yes!!!! That will put a smile on your face.

Exactly! Haha. Maaaaaybe I could justify bending over sans loob if epic conditions were part of the equation, but with a 10" crusty base, Red Lodge et al can go screw themselves.

EDIT: Shout out to both Harry and Bunion for attempting to help ease the pain! That was really cool of you, hermanos. While I prolly won't be heading out there this trip, I super appreciate both of you hooking a brother up.

Busy but fun day at the Big. Upper mtn was nasty so even more folks were concentrated at the base. Headwaters, Tram, Dakota, and Shedhorn all closed after lunch. But even at the end of the day there were stashes worthy of a shot.
