It was Bennymac's response to a now deleted post that I'm positive no parent would post, especially if they put themselves in the shoes of the parents who don't get to see their kid again after today's events.

Really, a distasteful thing to post.

365 x 11 = 4,015 teenagers will most likely be killed by texting in cars by the end of the year.

In 2023 only 1,663 teenagers and and children died from guns.

In 2023, there were approximately 42,967 gun-related deaths in the United States. This is a breakdown of some of the gun death statistics for 2023:

    Type of death
56% of gun deaths were suicides, 35% were homicides, 3% were police shootings, and nearly 4% were unintentional shootings

    Age
1,663 children and adolescents died from gun violence, while 38,826 adults died

    Mass shootings
There were 656 mass shootings in 2023, which is up from 647 in 2022 but down from 689 in 2021

    School shootings
2023 saw a record number of school shootings in over 40 years, with 346 incidents
This is the stupidest post in the thread. Congrats.

Of course we care about texting and driving. Who the fuck are you to say anyone doesn’t?

“Only” 1,663 teenagers? That’s a disgraceful thing to say. Where would the scales tip? What’s the magic number?

Gun deaths are going up YOY. Essentially doubled in the past 10 years, all ages. If you want to talk numbers, then actually look at them, they don’t help your cause…

It will help those good guys end the bad guys.

Fucking morans. It's never going to end.

The rest of the first world countries must not be able to comprehend how such a dumb society could be the most powerful in the world.

Are we though? Really? I mean, I know we got a lot of fancy fucking hardware. But I think the Ukrainians just showed that big ship naval power ain’t quite what it used to be.

At least not in this new era of fleets of very remote controlled and very tiny vehicles of destruction.

I really do hope the emperor actually is wearing clothes.

It would help if something could be done about assault weapons, but short of that.
Our schools should become like our airports, or maybe just arenas, stadiums etc.
Metal detectors and armed personnel staffing them.
When I was a kid, we had drills about the Russians dropping nuclear bombs on us.
That never happened, this happens every month.

Idk, we could just have the same policies that work for everyone else. Don't even have to be creative, just start copying. Seems preferable to turning schools into prisons.

About 50% of that tweet(?) is bullshit.
    - The threats by the kid on a gaming site last year could not be substantiated by law enforcement

    - Dad told LE he had hunting arms, but the kid did not have access. To me, that implies dad did not have an AR-15. My guess is cops asked to see the guns and went away satisfied. And if dad lied, he’s in deep shit too.

    Still a fucked up situation.

don’t some people argue that ars are hunting guns for smaller pests, boar, whatever?

anyway if the kid used his dad’s guns, it should be game over for that guy. obviously they weren’t secured properly. I have no clue what obligation an owner in Georgia has to secure them but he should be sued into oblivion by the families civilly and we should enact federal storage requirements etc to avoid these situations. ultimately some 14 year old kids will still find a way but that’s not a reason to do nothing at all. it’s really fucked and i can’t imagine sending a kid to school after one of these events…. that happen all of the time.

You care about scary looking stuff not about what actually kills 2.5 times more people.

People use that to get money out of you and votes.

Edit, there are no 300 page texting and driving are bad threads.

And obviously you’re not concerned about it either seeing as how you have yet to start a thread about texting and driving.

That he keeps trying to justify a pro-gun position in a thread about dead kids suggests he is aware of being a total dumb dumb.

    I self censored.

I knew there were people that couldn't see a phone was more lethal than a gun.

People love their phones. They aren't scary looking.

    Its a lost cause.

    Even more than guns.
