I was just chatting with someone about sizing up to the 190 for the regular DW. I am 5'9" 170-172 and feel I could go 190. However, I'd be apprehensive to get the 190 for the DWT just due to what I am going to use it for (ordering a pair myself shortly).

Moment told me a lot of people go the same size from DW to DWT. So if you ride 190 DW its probably fine to go 190 DWT unless you want to lighten it up or are skiing tight trees a lot.

My current touring ski is a V Werks Katana with virtually identical dimensions, but mounted about 8 cm further back, so maybe it’s jut a matter of learning to ski centered.

I think it will come down to personal preference vs what someone else does. If you are out west and touring bigger mountains I'd personally go 190 at your height and weight due to the characteristics of the ski. This is the same reason I am leaning towards the 184 for me being 5'9" and 171.

Also the DWT isn't something most are using for ease of travel in the backcountry, mountaineering, steep chutes, etc. so I wouldn't go with the common advise on sizing down for the touring version.

Another night out on my Commander 108 and I keep falling more in love. Week has been crazy at Alpental. 20+", followed by rain with now a few inches on top. Soft snow was still found, but lots of crust and hard bumps, too. These things ate it all up. Railed hard on the firm, sucked up the bumps, made every turn shape I wanted. Just so confidence inspiring. It's just so much fun when you find a ski that perfectly matches your ski style.

How do you plan to ski them and generally what type of terrain do you plan to ski them in? I’m 6’1” and 185# and had the 184 WCT108 and felt it was to short then sized up to the 190. After a couple seasons of shit snowpack and more low angle wiggles instead of more open high speed terrain, I’m kinda pining for a 184 again. I just don’t ski that aggressively in the backcountry any more due to a declining risk tolerance. Just one other data point to consider, not sure if it even helps🤷♂️

At 5'11" 180 I could not imagine going shorter than 190 for skiing the DW in pow. Had mine mounted at the rearmost triangle and deep fresh (and funky setup wind affected fresh) were far and away the worst conditions for that ski. For touring personally I wouldn't go DW at all, but if I did it would 100% be the 190 at your height/weight. The DWT might be a little softer since it is so much lighter which would help with float, but personally never felt the DW to be a floaty ski.

same. Don’t find my 112 to be floaty. I went 184 on both the 104 and 112 and wish I would have sized up on the 112.

Same, declining risk tolerance, I definitely ski slower in the bc than at the resort. They’ll generally be skied in Teton Pass and Wasatch terrain and snow conditions. Meaning tight trees, wide open slopes, a variety of crusts and lots of powder.

I really want a do it all winter ski for that stuff, not a quiver. Moments website sizing chart puts me on the 184 as the max size for my height and “Advanced Charger,” and doesn’t recommend the 190 till 6’1”.

I’m not sure what my Goldilocks ski is? Maybe a QST Blank that weighs 1750ish grams?

One of my best friends who I totally trust and is a forecaster in NW MT/ ID panhandle swears by the 184 DWT as his quiver of 1. Granted their snow has a bit more moisture, but he’s a hair smaller than you, but has no regrets on going shorter for shitty brush egress and the more variable snow conditions that encountered touring. This all comes down to opinions are like assholes and everyone has one. I always lean toward mount em up and find out. I honestly think both lengths have there pluses and minuses, I think you’ll be happy either way.

I'm 5-10 and ~200lbs, ski 184 DWT in ID Panhandle. I think the 184 DWT has a little more float than my 190 Bibby, I mounted the DWT 1cm back of the line.

I think you've probably answered you question with this. I'd stick with the 184 and not overthink it. I think it'll allow you to ski in an exciting way that allows you to still be more conservative and ensure lower risk such as skiing tighter tree and popping off smaller features.

The 193 CB does one thing REALLY well, and other things kind of OK. The 186 sounds like an intriguing option.

After a couple days on the countach, I am sold. They might be my favourite ski of all time, or a very close second. Float well, fast, damp, and want to attack the fall line much more than my old wildcats. Even in tight steep janky stuff they were fun. Not much fun going slow but they wiggle for when you are skiing with the wife but can’t always have your cake and eat it to.

I fucking loved the 186. The 193 was just this tempting mistress that that seemed all hot and wanted to party, but when it came down to it I liked the short fat one better. What was I thinking, I knew better. Fucking temptress.
