Heck of an entertaining race today. Between Alonso and Ocon getting the kid gloves treatment off the bat to Charles asking for team orders and getting shot down to Max ignoring team orders. Lewis is a class act per usual. Lot's of drama heading into Abu Dhabi.

Magnussen got straight torpedoed by Ricardo. That’s too bad for both of them. Would’ve loved to see how high Kevin could’ve placed, especially seeing as how everybody else had so many fucking crazy ass problems.

and, max is a douche… fact.

I mean, a lot of those are drivers going where they're not supposed to go.

They could get rid of the sausages but they need something else to keep drivers between the lines.

MotoGP has sensors embedded along the official track edge on corners. Cross over one too many times and the rider collects a long lap penalty.

I like it. If the marshals can deduct instances when a driver gets pushed or faded off, that will be great, but I'm sure Hamilton and Verstappen will cry like little bitches when it happens.

track limits are fucking stupid and contribute to F1’s sterile and processional
    racing product.

    Let em race

I would argue car design is more responsible for the regular procession we see in races.

Ive been watching F1 since i was a kid in the mid 90s- I didnt start watching because of a reality show.

the Liberty era f1 is sterile and pales in comparison to the V-10 era

Indycar season about ti start- pure motorsport and the fastest racing series in the world

It was a more competitive era in the 1990s you had Williams, Ferrari, Mclaren, Benneton all capable of winning multiple races per year and competing for constructors championships.

You also saw teams like Jordan, Ligier, and Stewart all winning races as well

cars sounded and looked way better too

Schumacher, Hill, Prost, Senna, Villeneuve, Irvine, Hakkinen, Coulthardt, Mansell > Hamilton , Leclerc, Verstappen

Yep, I remember it well. So, what do you think made the cars/teams more competitive?

Lack of supercomputers "designing" the cars which leads to one team making the best use of a loophole they found. The overly complex "power units" [meant to push research/development of hybrid tech {now we "know" the future is electric}] that are much harder to get the most amount of power from compared to the relatively lax fuel requirements of the 90's. 1.? pit stops, bring back refueling stops, please. ect,ect

ps ^' of wing in front of the cars

    pps A fucking shift lever

I want to hear SirHeady give his view. He says track limits would cause sterile, processional races.

Why was the V10 era more competitive?

Fuck off moron. They'd drive straight across a chicane without track limits, STFU

You're not wrong about F1 in the 90's. It was an awesome time for F1. I actually saw a few races live in that era. But none of what you described has anything to do with track limits.

Agreed and disagreed. I would say the steady increase of the dependence on aerodynamics has led to the sport being more "processional". The 2022 regulation change did make a difference on that front. The increase of tech in general (paddle shifting, traction control, etc) also means that the driver mistakes are less costly . As far as refueling during a pit stop, I think that is a terrible idea. I'm pretty sure Jos (and Max!) Verstappen would agree.

Manual transmissions and cockpit adjustable roll-bars to add some excitement.

A mechanic I worked with - who took part in the Red Bull driver search when they were looking for an American driver to put in F1 - said that when he and Scott Speed raced in the Barber series they were adjusting the roll bars for pretty much each turn on a lap, while also shifting. Exiting!

    Since SirHeady took a powder..

Cars are too wide, tires are too big now. Too much of the track is being taken up.

Aerodynamics are too dialed in. The cars work great in clean air but everyone close behind is fucked. Wings and wing area needs to be reduced.

Restrict pit crews - only 5 guys over the wall.

Get rid of street circuits (except for Monaco but half the points)

dude, a convenient thing to call it. Maybe paint a line on the garage floor? Would that be better for you?

Are you actually looking for expertise or just being pedantic yet again?

Take some of the wing(s) out and put the brake back in, but, that causes more wrecks and danger. I’d go for some gimmicks like track watering or field shuffling. Full course yellows have been helpful in recent years.
