Free Khalil

Not quite Leonard Pelletier. But a valid green card holder married to a us citizen expecting his first child soon and he is in detention. Not charged with anything. And all the info on him indicates he is not violent and actually has worked to defuse violence at protests. Free speech isn't free.

If there was any dirt to be found this guy would have been charged already.

Every American should be worried about people being arrested and held indefinitely without being charged. That is some third world banana republic bullshit.

Khalil is going to win a huge settlement eventually.

This and the Venezuelan deportation are the most un-American things I've ever had the misfortune of witnessing.

I.... am agreeing with core shot on something? I need to lie down.

More seriously, I hope this bodes well for national sentiment on breaking of individual freedoms and rule of law. I do not agree with 90% of Core Shot's opinions (most likely), but on this I'm in lockstep.

^^^ strange bedfellows? I’m not as nutty as some think. I tend to rational thought and debate. And also the Bill of rights and original freedom. Freedom of speech includes the right to say dumb ass shit. Not incite violence or a stampede in a movie theater. Sadly the freedumb MAGA crowd is off the rails. Not sure how we got here. Yeah yeah. Mouth breathing drumpftards. But it’s more than that.

Along similar lines: border patrol deny entry to a French scientist because he had statements critical of Trump on his phone. That's some bullshit.

When does Core shot look in the mirror and begin to understand how his own idiocy helped us get to this point that he takes such issue with?

The Trump administration has a free-speech problem. Even loathsome pro-Hamas supporters of murderous terrorists like CoreShot have a right to their flat-earthism du jour

Very scary to see the enemy aliens act used to deport people. This is the same act that FDR used to intern people of Japanese ancestry, two thirds of whom were not aliens but American born citizens. If FDR can intern citizens by executive order in time of declared war, certainly Trump is capable of it now. Don't think your passport or your birth certificate will save you. Remember what Trump thinks of birth certificates.

I had a green card for 10 yrs.

He was A green holder, applying for citizenship.

It’s not free speech to incite violence, trespass and god knows what else, and promote a terrorist organization.

Id be afraid to leave country and not be let back In.

    Fuck him.

    He's applying for citizenship.

You take civics tests, you have to know English, and you can definetly not commit crimes and expect that to be approved. . Period.

As a green card holder, I, sure the same fucking legal requirements apply, no crime.

    Sayonara stupid.

What crime? The administration hasnt even made a claim that he committed any crime from what Ive seen.

If he had commited a crime they wouldnt have needed the Secretary of State to use his obscure power here.

    Who is Mahmoud Khalil?
Khalil was one of the most visible activists in the protests last spring at Columbia, which also happened on other college campuses around the world.

    What’s his legal status?
Khalil was born and raised in Syria after his Palestinian grandparents were removed from their homeland, according to his lawsuit.

He came to the U.S. on a student visa in 2022 to pursue his graduate studies at Columbia.

Khalil married his wife, who is a U.S. citizen, in 2023. He became a legal permanent resident — also known as a green card holder — last year.

But a legal permanent resident can also be expelled for providing material support to a terrorist group, in which case the government doesn’t need a criminal conviction to bring deportation charges, he said.

“Material support for immigration purposes is much broader than the criminal definition of the term,” Yale-Loehr explained. “For example, people have been deported for simply providing a cup of water or bowl of rice to guerrilla groups, even under duress.”
