Just watched the sprint qualifying this morning. I thought it was pretty exciting. Hope they stick with it.

    Agreed.

Worth it for Alonso's opening lap.

So ... is Lewis an asshole for punting Max? Or is Max an asshole for trying to close the door on Lewis? Or were they both just showing the attitudes that put them at the top of the heap?

    Bingo
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

    More Lewis' fault than Max.

He knew that was going to be his last chance to get past.

Huge accident. Could have been so much worse.

It'll take a chunk out of Red Bulls racing budget.

I'm constantly amazed at how much money that company must make to fund all their shit.

^Energy drinks must be a good biz. That stuff tastes like shit to me, so I'm not a fan. But they must be selling a lot of it to someone.

They sold 7.9 billion cans in 2020.

Coke sells the equivalent of 650 billion cans a year.

I have no idea what this means other than it may be useful info for soft drink trivia night.

That's what I was gathering as well. Obviously accidents/crashes happen - and ideally you don't want them to happen at 300km/h - but it doesn't seem a total surprise that it occured. (from my very limited perspective as a new F1 fan).

The max / lewis incident is embarrassing for F1

Indycar dudes slap the wall at much faster speeds with less runoff . 180mph hit is pretty lame . Max and Redbull’s reaction are italian soccer league level theatrics .

It’s a glaring indictment on how poor the racing has been in F1 to where a pass for the lead that ends up in a crash is a monumental event

Scientists now have decisive molecular evidence that humans and chimpanzees once had a common momma and that this lineage had previously split from monkeys.

Yeah, they definitely should. I always watch qualifying, but I bet more people would watch this form of it (remember a few years ago they had that terrible idea to do some sort of knockout format that resulted in no cars on track all but the very end of each session?).

It just looked like Max was fully expecting Lewis to give way when Lewis was alongside and Max knew he was there. I was pretty surprised Lewis got the 10 second penalty (I know Red Bull is lobbying for more). Having looked at all the replays a few times it just looked to me like Lewis couldn't have done anything except hit the brakes, which seems unreasonable to expect (from any F1 or other race car driver).

To get away from the Fencing competition I stumbled into F1, laughable as usual.

Glad that the MotoGP summer break is over and the bikes will be back on track Friday morning.

Wow, that was one of the best open wheel races of the year. F1 makes Indy look like Jr karting

You ever drive a race car?
