It's hotter than a whore house on nickel night

Back on topic, it’s 108 now at the house but only 13% RH. I’m more worried about the breeze now than the heat though. It’s primed for fire. Hopefully no one does anything stupid and starts a fire.

My power has not gone off but a short time ago all my UPS went to battery. Showed 107 volts line input. It got a bit brown for a bit

I would guess they might be having some issues on the other side of the mountain. Where it’s really hot

Aside from a millisecond blip yesterday (reset my router) no downtime in Stevens county so far despite 110° (currently).

There's a lot of literature on this topic for a variety of crops.

I'm not saying one will never grow wine worthy grapes in some location in the future, only that places where it has been successful in the past may no longer be.

    This is fucked up.

These are not normal temps. Sure we get the odd triple digits here and there, mostly in the end of August sometimes we even get 3 in a row of 100 degree days but not 115 flanked by 113 flanked by 110 flanked by 109 for over a week. So hot. My older animals are suffering. I'm having to do constant cold hosing. Feeding them cold soaked hay and frozen fruit to keep water in them. Soaking and freezing towels to wrap around their ears.

    It's brutal.

111 now. and it's keeps going for the next week or more. He's a sneak peek a the rest of tonight and tomorrow morning:

I just keep thinking about how July-October is going to be from a fire perspective if this shit keeps up. There might not be anything left to burn by October.

Just bought a handful of furnace filters today because they will be impossible to find once the smoke starts

Yup - did that myself earlier this month. Now what I really want is an air scrubber.

Been Waking up early to get in 1-2 hrs of work before it gets too hot… replacing a section of privacy fence with double gates and turning the backyard into toy storage. Soaking wet by 9am. Can’t wait for this to end. Project is looking good though.

Just walked outside and was a little bit chilly, looked at the thermostat and it said 91. Haha. Down 20 degrees already.

East Union Hill outside temp finally dropped below 83F @9:15pm, equaling inside temp, so ventilation going full bore.
High here was right around 103F.

    Tomorrow forecast high is 91F.

Really does seem to be cooling down.

What a brutal couple of days.

A lot of thoughts about protecting against this for the future.

AC, attic insulation, windows... what's the best bang for the buck?

    Heat pump for us.
The artist known as :::: :::: can chime in, but when we did our house, our engineer emphasized ceiling insulation over wall.

Roof. That was my thought too and a huge improvement in winter.

So glad we have a big basement room and the air return down stairs too. Has been a cooler space to retreat to. Furnace fan has almost felt like AC.
