The Grateful Dead channel on Sirius

The new Grateful Dead channel is like an instant flashback machine. I just heard the "Quinn the Eskimo" encore from a Foxboro show I was at on 7-2-89. Jerry sang "when Quinn the Eskimo gets here, Everybody's gonna wanna dose" and I remember the entire place lit up and people went nuts. That was one of my favorite shows ever.

the Jam channel has some pretty awesome live Phish tracks too. heard a "Run like an Antelope" that went on for like 20 mins earlier today. I was four wheeling in the snow at the time and it was awesome.

Yeah, the Jam-On station can be good, but they seem to play a lot of repeats in my experience.

Have you guys heard the soundclip of the guy on the Grateful Dead channel saying "Uhhh..... does anybody wanna buy a remote? Cause' I haven't changed off the GD channel ever since it came on."

    Clever. I chuckled.

I do switch back and forth a bit, though. Even though Jam On does repeat a lot of songs (lately seems like Umphreys, ALO, and Tea Leaf stuff a lot,) the frequent drawn-out drums/space stints on GD are getting painful.

I have been loving it. Space does get rough, though. Without fail, I have a 15 minute drive. Jump in the Jeep, and it is fucking Space for the whole ride.

I had Sirius for years and then got rid of it cause I wasn't on the road as much. But..... I rented a car not long ago and it just happened to have Sirius. The Dead channel is awesome. I couldn't believe how great the song selection was when I was listening.

Do they still have Bill Walton's 'One More Saturday Night' show on? His
long ass stories that somehow connected the dots at the end cracked me up.

    Agreed on the repeats.

I was wondering what was going to happen to Jam-On when the Dead channel came on, but they both seem to keep it fresh.

The Jam On DJ's were happy when the dead channel came out cause they didnt have to play dead anymore. They seem to hate dead. That one smoky voice chick Steph on Jamon sound like she doesnt take the needle out of her arm .She's always nodding. "Heres a 20 minute Widespread song and I'm gonna shoot up"

jam on was basically a GD channel.

As with the Stone's channel. they play every song I don't want to hear five times a day and every song i want to hear about once a week.

All I really remember from dead shows is the awesome music and how much fun it is to trip out with 80 thousand people; the rest is a blur.

One lucid memory I have from that show is pretty funny. The parking at Foxboro is/was atrocious and many local people use their yards to park cars at football games and concerts. At that show, we paid $10 to park in someones yard and then walked to the stadium a couple miles down the road.

My buddies and I were still super lit after the show. We hung around the scene at the stadium lots and didnt make it back to the car until the sun was already up. It was kind of funny to see our car being the only one left on the front lawn of this house. The family were all looking out the windows at us drinking beer on their front lawn hoping we'd just go away. Sensing the tension, my buddy politely went to the door and told them we'd take off as soon as we came down. I thought they were going to call the police, but they never did.

There is a simple adapter that will make it work. Sirius sells them. No need to buy a whole new unit. Course, it may cost as much as a whole new unit, but c'est la vie.

btw, anyone know how well those portable stilleto receivers work while skiing? im wondering if the changing aspects of the terrain would interfere with the signal.
