Was only able to get the house down to 58 F last night, gotta get the big window fans going I guess. Grateful that my SO understands how to keep a house cool in summer.

It was hot enough yesterday that I burnt my shoulder to the point it blistered by carrying some T posts that had been laying in the sun! It was somewhere between 95 and 102 at that point.

If we can get it down to the low to mid-60s by morning, we can batten down the hatches and generally stay below 80F during the day inside. But yeah - those window fans help a ton during the hottest part of the summer.

Best thing we got was one of those magnetic bug screens for the back French doors. Acts like a dog door in the summer and we have way less bugs and critters sneaking into our cabin. Our eves overhang enough to block sunlight during the heat of the day so our house stays pretty cool. For not having AC it is a pretty good setup.

You just have to be zen about it and accept that you're going to be a sweaty mess.

It would suck if I had an office job like when I lived in Seattle but here on the farm no biggie. Today I was trying to fix a plugged irrigation riser and got soaked head to toe when it blew. No biggie. It was 90+ degrees. I welcomed the relief and dried in no time.

Have you heard of a Whole House fan? We have one in our home and you open up your windows like 4 in once it's cooled off, turn the whole House fan on and it sucks in the cool evening air and blows it up into your attic so that your attic stays cool the next day and it really helps cool the house down in the evening when running and then again the next day when it starts to get hot out.

Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

You can get a KingAir window model that will move a couple thousand CFM.
