My in laws live on the West side of Novelty Road hill, just East of Redmond on the West facing slope.
We live on the East side of Union Hill above the Snoqualmie valley.

Temperature differences are usually 10F with them hotter. Since the Novelty hill faces West there, I figured it heats up and picks up the heat from all the pavement and buildings in Redmond, particularly with the normal Easterly flow.

It is a mystery to me why we're so much cooler, but there is normally an Easterly flow, so maybe there's some cooling effect from the way the air drops away down to the valley East of us. We're all forested around here for a couple of miles. The Redmond Ridge complex, North of us about 4 miles, is hot as well, likely from the pavement.

My guess is that it's like an airfoil flow over the hill and the lower pressure, faster air is cooler.

I don't understand why this is happening?

Is this because the UFO report is coming out tomorrow? The aliens are firing up their engines deep within the Pacific Ocean?

It’s because of the porn you watch.

18,500 ft freezing level on Rainier Saturday night. 63 F on the summit Sunday. I wonder what the record is there?

Maybe I am reading that wrong, but to me that is natures way of saying move.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

This might be my chance to convince my wife to turn off the goddamn TV for a while, but I doubt it.

I used the oven twice yesterday. Didn't seem particularly wise but dammit I need to do some baking!

I tried baking my sourdough ciabatta on the grill last week... burned the shit out if the bottom. Probably need to get a stone or a steel.

My ciabatti are fairly long, so need a flat surface to bake on...

We are going to be hot but not that hot though I'm not sure once you get up that high for that long it matters much. Splitting hairs I suppose. That was a picture of the nightly news last night. Tri-cities is the closest local news we get.

    It's a lovely 64 degrees right now.

It's funny that Tri-cities can be so close yet so different from W2. I love it here but would not want to live there.

Hottest I’ve experienced was 122F over a Labor Day weekend in Redding CA, ‘88 or ‘89. Overnight low was like 95F.

Once you get over about 110 it doesn’t seem to make a lot of difference. Of course humidity plays a role. I was in Death Valley at 114 and it was tolerable in the shade with single digit RH.

My wife's bread from the other day. She puts the dutch oven on top of the stone and preheats both. It takes a little feel to get the temps right, but the crust is outstanding.
