Tried using the search function on this and now I'm thinking I'm just going crazy.

Did the mount point on the woodsman move this year or am I insane and dreaming about ski mount points?

Well, as 2022 skis are but a few months from being launched and this year's excellent offering on sale, perhaps now is as good a time as any to take stock of what changes were made prior to this season.

Here is the oft quoted post 8680.

    TOUR SKIS
Stocked tour skis will be BG Tour, BG 108 Tour, Woodsman 108 Tour, Jeffrey 108 Tour.

On custom, those options will expand out slightly to the Woodsman 96/102, Jeffrey 102.

We have a 189cm BG 108 Tour coming, but that length was one that we went back and forth on, so will see if there is enough interest to keep it around after 1 year. The BG 108 will be available in all 3 layups on custom, but only stocked in the Tour Layup.

    CUSTOM LAYUP OPTIONS
We have 3 layup options coming.

Stock layup is using a new custom hybrid glass/carbon composite we've been working on a few years. This is for several reasons - primarily that it is a stronger bonding material than takes the uni-carbon off the core, in place of solid 45/45 glass, is heavier in its overall weight and thus has allows us to drop some weight on our cores (with the virus slow down, we're behind hundreds of skis, so the final weights for all the new skis are still being worked on, but in skis that were running 22oz fiberglass we're seeing a drop of about 100 grams/ski), and saves us a bit of production time as its only one material to prep (though cost sort of negates that). This change is across the board, so we did see a slight increase in weight in some of the 19oz based skis (specifically the Magnus). A lot stronger though, so worth the slight weight increase IMO.

50/50 is our new tour specific core, same composites, but also build with our stock base / edge. This is a custom only option.

Lastly Tour is our new tour specific core, same composites, but sigh....also thinner base and edge. 1.4mm 4001 base still - so not a huge drop from 1.8mm - but a narrower edge too. The weight savings were just too much to ignore. This is the layup that will be used on the standard ski line tour skis.

We're still getting pricing and finalizing the supply of this core right now - so full details won't be out until we have everything finalized (US sourced, so they've had similar virus delays as we have), but will be out shortly. Won't be the lightest - but that wasn't our goal.

    RES
BG just the change in core profile/layup.
    CD no change.

    WRENEGADE
Wren 96 Ti and 108 Ti will be able to be ordered on custom if you want them (just email us), but we won't be stocking them. Sales on the Woodsman have been so good that we're pretty all in on that line.
Wren going ironically a bit back to where it was. 2 skis - 102 Ti and 110 Pro.
110 Pro is 186cm only, older rocker profile, big radius. Likely a preorder type deal for it as I only expect to build them 1x per year. We love the brand and the original intention of the skis, so this is about as true to that as we've had since we cut the 113.
102 has a tighter radius than 108, a bit more tip taper, and we moved the mount point on the 179/184 back about 1cm each. 189cm mount stayed the same.
I've been pretty clear that I think for most skiers the TI is best on a ski seeing lots of hard snow, hence the focus on a width that is going to see more use in harder conditions.

    WOODSMAN
Woodsman gets new width - 102.
96 gets tighter radius + new core profile/layup.
108 gets minor sidecut tweak + new core profile/layup.
116 gets minor sidecut tweak, flex made a bit softer + new core profile/layup.
Moved the mount point back 0.75cm across the line.
Flex on 177/182 made a bit softer in all widths.

    JEFFREY
Jeffrey gets new width - 102.
96 gets tighter radius + new core profile/layup.
    108 gets new core profile/layup.
116 gets tighter radius + new core profile/layup.

    TI on CUSTOM
Woodsman 96/102/108 and Jeffrey 96/102/108 will be available with Titanal on custom.
We hadn't planned bringing metal to the BG because I just truly don't know who that would be for, but if there is interest we could make it happen.

    MAGNUS
Magnus profile updated to give a bit more stiffness behind the heal.
    Shape unchanged.
On custom, the Magnus 102 will be able to be ordered fully edgeless.

    MERA
New women's Woodsman-variant called the Mera - comes in 102 to start. 162/167/172.

    JESSIE
Jessie 108 goes custom only (+ new core profile/layup), and adds a 102.
Updated radius on the 96 + new core profile/layup.
    So stuff we know is coming;

    1) female / lighter rider skis back to being in stocked offering, not custom only like this year.

    2) partial edge Forster Meeks pro model, similar vein to Mango and Hackl pro releases this year I would assume, though I have no idea if it will be custom only, limited stock or experimental for their riders only.

    3) ON3P's 2 year update cycle + Iggy tinkering should make for a few updated designs for next year.

Should be awesome - like it is every year.

Which option did you go with? I spent most of the weekend rallying lift-served spring crud on my Steeple 108s and had a great time. Reminded me that having a standard build BG108 mounted with alpine bindings would be fun as hell. The quickness that the narrower waist adds compared to a normal BG is pretty obvious in bumps and skied out crud, but you still get that RES goodness in funky snow and pockets of pow. It all adds up to a quick, nimble ski that is surprisingly stable/willing to blast through/over stuff if you ask it to. Tectons and Hawx Prime XTDs certainly help here, but the shape and snow feel of this ski in variable crud/pow/whatever is $$$.

I went with the stock layup. I didn’t want to loose the burly feel of the 116’s. They stomp everything in their path. I’m 6’ and 215. I slash, pound and lumber my way through stuff on the goats. Light, poppy skis don’t suit me well. I ski the 116 goats on everything but ice.

I thought about just putting a frame binding on my current goats but the mango top sheets just put me over the edge!

What do you think? Fill it in with Ptex or do I have to fork over money for a base weld?

Another killer pow day on the BGs yesterday. Every time I ski them I love them more and more as I figure out all the little details that really make them sing. Same model as the ones posted above and I would probably cry if that happened to mine (somehow, wtf did they do???).

Been absolutely loving some ?2018? maybe veneer Wrenegades as a touring ski, but they seem a bit overkill. Debating a woodsman or bg tour with, you know, an actual tour core. I've got a deep day tour ski, so this is really for the other days.

For anyone who has been on the new tour core, how much do I give up on chunky/refrozen snow? I'm out early often, and in tahoe lately that means thawed and refrozen snow.

After skiing steeples a few times and loving them, I thinking about selling them and upgrading to a custom pair of BG108s non-tour for next season.

PS the regular BGs performed well at Silverton last weekend. If my boots had cooperated I would have skied them more but had to switch to the snowboard for the second day.

I came off a veneer wren 108 for touring. Fan of the BG RES, got a 116 BG Tour this year and I’ve been extremely happy with the switch. Tour core is extremely manageable in chop and the weight savings is so worth it, quicker to turn too. I also have Woodsman 96 for spring tours and it straight lines as well as the Wren as far as I’m concerned.

    ON3P SKIS Discussion

    tl;dr: keep yo tips up

Sorry guys, not a sexy story, but more of a embarrassing one. I was skiing Baker on a deep pow day this Monday. I got on the chair lift and we took off smoothly, so I turned to talk to my friend. I felt a slight tug on my foot and suddenly BAM, I get yanked off the chair and body slammed to the ground, like a sack of potatoes. I'm about 30 feet passed the loading area. They stop the lift, I get up to do the walk of shame back to the line, when I noticed the damage. The left tip must have stuck in the snow/ice real good and with no way to eject with the way the force was applied, the ski just snapped.

I can remember the entire lift line standing there, with the lift stopped, looking at me like I was a dead man, walking back down with my broken ski. A ski patroller gracefully gives me a ride back to my car/parking lot on his sled. As he dropped me off, he sympathetically told me that he owned 3 pairs of Billy Goats himself. I throw the damage skis in my car, grab my WD108s and meet back up with my friends, only missing one lap.

I'm just glad that I didn't tear all the ligaments in my left leg or got a concussion. I emailed Scott to see if he had any spares lying around, but I'm not holding out hope. So if anyone is selling a left 184cm, ping me, or is interested in purchasing a used right ski.

    Another angle:

Same thing happened to a buddy in Las Lenas a decade ago. We both got thrown of as the chair pivoted back.
Las Lenas is filled with pro skiers etc in the peak season. Seth Morrison was there at the time and I'm pretty sure he was in the line laughing his ass off

I used to work in a shop that did repair/warranty type work for the airlines. One time a 207 K2 KVC came in with a broken tip from the conveyors. We called them totaled and customer was issued a new pair. Some enterprising(broke) shop tech(me) came up with the bright idea to fix that shit, mount Riva cables on 'em and ski the shit out of them tele. Can't remember how many seasons I skied them, at least a coupleClick image for larger version.

I think a BG repair appears possible given the tear point. Hopefully. Sorry tho. Guessing the tail got jammed in the chair to create that force? Super bummer.

Sidewall looks thiiiiick on those K2s. Impressive.

    Oh, wait, Tele? 207s??

Edit..... you took a patrol sled down? You could have rocked the back seat or just rode it to the parking lot switch, no???

I should clarified. I was at the base(raven hut) walking uphill to another base(white salmon) where my car was at, when I ski patroller gave me a ride on his snowmobile, since he was heading towards white salmon anyways.
