E’ville rocks Benny you should seriously check it out. Great town, it’s like a little Breckenridge but from 15 years ago.

Two resorts too, Holiday Valley and Holimont, which is nice.

The bike shop there is also the best (only?) Burrito shop in town.

I've always been a fan of Ellicottville Brewing Co. too.

Reminds me of a mirror image Highlands - all those diamonds dropping off the ridge. Mostly black runs. Is there any hike-to?

Not necessarily, the top of the ridge lookers right is nordic trails; in my youthful days I cut more than a few runs through the trees across the valley on the other ridge outside the resort. Now its a lot of mansions which might make the skiing over there easier.

The pitch on all those runs off the ridge are really great, good fall-line aspects. I've been snowed in there during some absolutely bonkers lake effect storms and its a blast.

    Hike to...LOL.
I always liked the Yodeler and Chute area, cool (for WNY anyway) zone. Eagle was always a ghost town.

Yodler has produced many a great bump skier and the lodge at the bottom is a fun apres scene.

You're absolutely right about Eagle. All those runs over there, despite having great pitch, a quad and nice length are empty all the time and I can't figure out why. During my last storm day up there I farmed shin to knee deep pow for 4-5 laps until someone else caught on.

Erie snow machine ramping up this weekend (although so is the wind). Expect big fresh in Ellicotville if anyone wants to make the trip.

Looks like the winds will be parallel to the southern lake erie shore so will miss Ellicottville, but these things are fickle. Kinda like my stomach after NY-style poutine.

Oooh, a seche advisory though. Haven’t seen that in a while.

Some dope on the eastern end of the lake will go into a bar tonight and walk/get a ride home.

Tomorrow morning after the storm has been hammering wind and snow west to East all night long he will come back and find his car like this:

The best part of that is the relative lack of ice on the ass end. You can tell that the wind just kept blowing and blowing without shifting direction for hours.

How does that differ from Canadian poutine?

Very nice. You would think that UC pics would get repetitive but you are keeping it fresh. You’re the Michelangelo of UC photography

If these aren’t picked up for an ad campaign UC needs a new marketing department.

    Seriously, good stuff.
