Alright boys, let’s see some storm pics
I still call it The Jake.
Paltry foot in the middle of upstate. The pics were not impressive. Not worth posting. That's like a Tuesday up there.
Buffalo at 40" is at least worth getting up for. They might be good shots. Haven't seen anything from there. I don't know anyone from Buffalo. I try to keep it that way. Too depressing.
WNY check in. ROC was spared.
Bristol Mt looking good. F'ing cold so I'd expect over-the-head machine blower in the next 24 hours.

See I would contend if you were simply born somewhere and never lived their
long enough to be employed, pay taxes, own a home, you are not really native either.
Plenty of kids born on army bases aren’t native to anywhere, they just happened to pop out of their moms box.

If you haven't had cauwfee at Stewart's, you're not a local. IMO
A few people feel the rain. Most people just get wet.

Solid. I can see someone slipping on their ass in that second pic in no time.
I still call it The Jake.
No pics just memories. Good storm but strangely a foot of dense windblown snow wasn't much of a hassle at all. I don't know if this area has gotten better at dealing with it or what but the roads are in great shape. I almost found out what my new (to me) truck can't do in the snow, pulled into an unplowed parking lot to see what it had to offer and got it stuck in a drift. Rocked it a little, got the wife and kidz all bothered and then remembered it has air suspension. Flip the switch, lift it an inch and change and it walked right out. Fuckin' coolThen I went and romped around a bit with the supercharger all wound up and it sounded great and spun around and got the wife all disturbed
then had to stop and dig snow out of the wheels. Does deep snow make you want to do dumb shit too? haha
Why didn't I ever pay attention to Bristol before? It actually looks alright. Binghamton and the I88 corridor, through the Catskills and into the Berks and SW VT got fucking hammered. 4 foot numbers are common and I have a feeling when the sun comes up tomorrow we'll see some 5 foot totals. There are some backwater zones that are gonna be buried for weeks.
If it doesnt go up to 50 degrees and rain.
That would make it worse.
If you go on vacation and people immediately don’t know you’re from NY you’re not a local. You were just born there.
If you didn’t walk around slc asking for cawfee with a schmeer on your bagel because you are taking your kid to a hawnted house and you hate standing on line to wait, you were merely an interloper.

Yes. I had no idea about this until I took a summer job at Lynx Creek Pizza in AK and I worked with a bunch of people from the west coast. Being from upstate, I could hear city accents very clearly and even distinguish between Bronx and Brooklyn born NYCer but I thought I just sounded like a normal average American myself- like somebody you would see on a typical sitcom on TV or whatever. My coworkers disabused me of that idea very quickly. One girl from Oregon could not be convinced that I wasn’t Italian.
You can tell where I was born the second you hear me speak. Does this count?

I'm riding the lift once and the inevitable "where are you from?" comes up and this dude says "the Opak." I'm thinking where the fuck is "the Opak?" Then I'm thinking he said the Ozarks or something. Turns out the dude had a lisp and was from Deer Park, LI. After Boston, LI has some of the worst accents.
