Solvay, NY. That is a strange little slice of upstate, and based on my limited time there, your grandmother had plenty of company. They do have a polish restaraunt that makes great Perogis- Eva's or Edna's? Great hidden gem of a restaraunt. Cannot say much else appealed to me.

But hey, at least there is lots of fresh, clean water in the lake to fish, swim, and row.

Sure, if you like that sort of thing. I'm more of a cyanobacteria, algae, lily pad kind of guy.

Eva’s. There’s also some sort of eastern european grocery store nearby. I’ve never been in but the number of hot women coming and going from there is intriguing. There’s a real nice section of solvay called Piercefield that’s kind of a hidden gem

It's getting better, and my great grandma did actually swim in lake onondonga before allied came to town. Someday people will swim there again, but what a fucking mess that was.

^Some of the pictures I've seen on Fb this morning are amazing. The entire trail above the lodge let go from the dirt and about 4 feet of machine made snow ripped down the hill like on ball bearings and took out the entire uphill side of the lodge. The snow in the cafeteria is about 3 feet deep and it wrecked the floor and made a mess of the first floor too. It looks like the building may have to come down and they may not be able to let people into the locker room to get their stuff.

I posted about that in ECRC, and, the funny thing about that hill is that you park on top and ski down. I only skied there once, and it was pretty lame. I think they built that lodge to sit at the bottom of that stupid gondola that the taxpayers of NY paid for , so, justice is served.

Not entirely correct. There was always another lodge at the bottom. My kids did a couple BoyScout ski days down there when they were little. They expanded/upgraded it when they installed the gondola. It actually makes some sense to have a mid lodge at Belle because the entire lower half of the hill is very mellow beginner terrain. Only the upper 25% of vert has decent pitch to it

Eh, you're right, just checked the map.

Still though, Lazlo over at Plattekill is 100% correct that the state is driving people like him out of business when they spend money like that.

I’m sure that set off a pleasant discussion.

Just a reminder to always make sure you’re beeping out there.

I agree. It’s ridiculous that they don’t sell that place off. And Belle doesn’t hold a candle to Platty- especially for somebody that already knows how to ski.

The upper lodge was there first many many years ago. When I used to go there when we were little they were first building a lower lodge. BP sorry but if you haven't been there when the snow is great you don't really know the place.
