I will drive to ski Bristol if you can provide me a "Bristol Mt., better than a punch in the nuts!" sticker.

Brantling, with 250' of vert and epic Lake Effect dumps can be the place to shred the pow. Gold medalist Diann Roffe got her start there. I had my own personal liftie and Tbar one Wednesday morning.

I've heard McCauley Mountain is nice in a storm.

McCauley does have a pretty good rep for killer pow days. There's also Snow Ridge really close. @wooley I've heard that place can be great on a good snow day. NY actually has a bunch of pretty cool mini ski areas.

I'm here to tell you that both get more than enough snow and have just enough vert that you can hurt yourself quite significantly at either place.

Excellent. I'd consider that too. And that would not be a short drive.

There’s already an epilogue. Skiing and the internets, what a time to be alive!

This is just anecdotal of course but from what I've seen at the bump 25 miles from my house is if you leave it to a typical (downstate) NYer they can fuck themselves up pretty good just putting their skis on. They don't need to actually go anywhere. It may need to be a bit bigger and more significant when dealing with a typical upstate NYer but I doubt it.

I don’t think we can blame either upstate or downstate for this. It’s pretty universal. We weren’t all born geniuses you know.

If you can drive the extra hour go to McCauley. Snow ridge is flat. Bristol is a good hill. 1200 vert and good pitch. They make a ton of snow

What?!?!? 300 vert man! Name me another hill where the seasonal snowfall comes pretty damn close to matching the total vertical. It's a special place.

Hey, the bar is closed, right? That'll improve the place tremendously, to start.

Haha yeah it will, I hadn't thought of that. I'd still rather ski Belleayre, I really don't like Hunter except on a powder day.
