I haven’t skied them yet. Bought them used like a month ago, and they’ve just been sitting there. I figure someone else will give them the love they deserve.

I also prefer directional skis in that “daily driver” category. I have 90mm park skis for firm snow, and Kartel 116s for soft snow. I don’t jib enough to need an additional jib ski.

Decently better. Much better at speed. But the k116 is much more intuitive on hardpack than the BG.

Thread drift. How do those ski?

    ON3P SKIS Discussion

Not sure if you saw my other post but pretty similar in powder - I took my skins that were cut for BG’s and put them on the Animas and didn’t have to trim them - pretty damn close to being identical. But way softer and not even comparable inbounds of course. So, nice for BC only purposes but that’s it. ON3P construction is pretty magical for resort skiing and despite my dalliances elsewhere I keep coming back to it. But it’s been good to branch out and keep trying other skis and continue to appreciate why that it is. I have yet to find the same damp and pop in any other construction.

I do like having some lighter options for touring or even soft resort days when my legs are tired, but when I’m feeling it I’m pretty stoked to grab some Wrens.

Kartel 108s are sold. Sorry for any confusion. I should have made a seperate thread, there ended up being a line for them..

Man Kartel 116s are phenomenal skis for slush and bumps. One of my new favorites. So much easier to ski than 190 Bibby, but still has a backbone for my fat ass.

Just wanted to bump these to the current page. ;-) Are Kid kapow and I the only ones that would go for something like this on a custom ski?

I think it's a great idea and snow glop on black topsheets sucks particularly when wrens aren't exactly "light" as it is. Would be a nice option for the full tour line.

No you aren't the only ones. I don't need more skis but that looks awesome.

Can someone, please, shed some light on what is the tail to boot-center line length of Wren108 184cm vs K108 186cm?

    per Blister:
kartel: Recommended Line: -4.25 cm from center; 89 cm from tail
    wrenegade:
Factory Recommended Mount Point: -9.0 cm from center; ~83.35 cm from tail

ref the suggested graphic - for all i know Iggy might have something similar function wise up his sleeve already, i have no idea. I just think such a type of graphic makes a lot of sense and is a bit more thrilling than all white skis

Those blister numbers are likely pulled point to point. We measure straight out.

    Pulled straight - 83cm (Wren 108_184) and 88.75 (Kartel108_186).

White topsheets are cool until you lose a ski. I have always felt white topsheet-powder skis are sort of asking for it.
Seriously, this can’t turn into yet another ON3P thread....

I’ll take my chances in the BC. Shedding snow while skinning is worth it.

I can't say I've honestly noticed a significant difference in snow buildup on my white skis vs dark topsheet ones. YMMV.

Even in chunky, wet, maritime snow?

    I live in Colorado....

That said my white skis are my spring mountaineering skis, which get skied in heavier, wetter conditions. They replaced a darker colored ski and yeah, I just don't notice much difference.

Wet Tahoe snow sticks a lot easier- it’s noticeable out here. Anyway, I think the white inverted eagle looks pretty sweet regardless.

    But that green base glow...

White topsheet with pink sidewalls and green bases and you’re probably good.

I kinda want a white/greyscale version of the c&d topsheets.

Guys, custom Topsheets are technically an option. I looked into it when I had my wife’s skis made. It’s..... not cheap. The Topsheets are not printed in-house IIRC, so sourcing and cost are an issue and all of that cost is passed on to you, the buyer. I think it’s awesome Iggy let’s us get custom skis, period, but I think we all get a little carried away asking for 1-offs. The collective noise got the SG’s made, so we should all consider that an accomplishment and not press our luck too far.

But, I’m just 1 guy, what the Hell do I know?

Clarifying; I ain’t asking for anything. Wanting and asking aren’t the same thing!
