She went into full on anaphylactic shock and the local ER was pretty overwhelmed. They intubated her but she threw up and aspirated in the process. Thankfully she got an Epi pen on the way or it could have been worse. She was really unstable in the ER over there when they called us and our attending told them to get her on a continuous Epinephrine drip right away. After that she was stable enough to fly but the heli hit weather and had to turn around so they could put her on a fixed wing. Her family ended up beating her here. Anyway, I think she's gonna be OK but she'll be intubated for a while due to the aspiration. Worst thanksgiving ever right? The whole thing sure made me thankful for my health and my coworkers who helped make the best of the evening though.
This is bullshit. They just had the best TDay of their lives. An ER doc getting a tube in during anaphylaxis? She can give thanks she doesn't have a huge hole in her neck. I doubt a small town hospital has anesthesia OR glydescopes. Also, the fact that an ER actually got her on the Epi gtt and successfully got her to a higher level of care, well, if it happened to my wife, I'd be giving out BJ's.

Best and worst was when our emotionally scarred bro brought his new flame over. Cooking has always been grounds for being torn to shreds, but this boy boiled over a pot of water. The snickering was inevitable. His flame was so pissed, she became ill, and had to leave for the next three days, Chuckle.

Ya, my daughter was missing us a little. She didn't come home over the 3 day weekend they give up there in October. Too far, no car, too much money to fly for a long weekend. And of course she didn't want to miss classes to come home this weekend. We're flying her to Montreal after exams are done and we'll pick her up there. 1.5 hours x 4 is a better drive than 9.5 x 4. Especially in winter. And the cost is about equal once you factor in at least two nights in a hotel and a bunch of hours drinking Picaroons if I go to Fredricton. Twice. The bright side is she that she made friends with some other kids that live too far away as well. So they hole up and it's them against the world.

1995 - After a two year battle with cancer, my sister and said Goodbye to our mom and laughed for the last time with her on Thanksgiving night. My mom went to sleep and died two days later.

Uhh, no. The fact that it could have been worse doesn't make it a good day. The heli crew that got turned around by bad weather didn't have such a great Thanksgiving. Definitely strong work by the ER.

One of my worst Thanksgivings--I had 3 turkey dinners. All of them in cafeterias in the 3 hospitals I was covering, while my family waited for me at home. And the best--every one that my wife and I and our two sons are all together, including this year--we're getting to the point in our lives where we don't know if there will be another one--between living in different places, potential wives and in-laws, deployment, health.

That's sounds tough, but it was probably nice to be able to say goodbye. Not trying to trivialize your experience, but it reminds me of a very sweet film The Family Stone. It may hit too close to home, but I found it touching and well worth watching.

I don't know why but I hated The Family Stone, annoying people all the way around.

Maybe it was Sara Jessica Parker.

I sometimes think about changing mine, but it seems kind of useless.

She was annoying AF, but i think that was her role. Deaf gay guy was annoying, too... Coach was good, tho, no? Ok, maybe it wasn't so great. Worst Thanksgiving film ever.

Now, Sly and Family Stone are in a higher league of their own...

Coach and Luke Wilson have to try hard to be unlikable. I'm 100% positive SJP ruined it for me.
