There is a Focus wagon in Europe. There is even diesel ST variant with around 180 hp and 300 lb/ft of torque.

True. More hatch back than wagon on the American standard, even though classified as a wagon in Europe. But what I’ll be observing at least for myself is how is the diesel to live with?

I wonder if the new Buick has rear facing seats so the next generation can experience give other drivers the finger out the back window?

    Wagon Stoke

Going this weekend to look at this

    2014 328 m sport with 50k on it

I'd prefer this one but I don't think I'd have enough left over to buy the car too

If it's green, smoke it...if it's pink, poke it

    BUY THESE------> 193 iM 103 - $50 http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...d.php?t=179797

My wife has demanded that we replace the Outback with the new wagon so long as it's called the Roadmaster and has wood paneling. I don't know how to break it to her.

Did a lot of internetting last night, looking at this new VW Alltrack

The price point is giving me stirrings in my pants.

I've always wanted a Beemer wagon but the cost of ownership does scare me a bit. I'm going to stop by VW dealership today and take a looksee

Dunno if a new VW will be cheaper to own than a CPO Bimmer. If you go Bimmer try to get one with about 3 years/35K miles so you can milk another year out of the CPO warranty (IIRC it goes to 6 years from first date of service/100K miles)

I would think it would be cheaper. Especially since you can get a '17 Alltrack in the low 20's. Add in an extended warranty and it's definitely going to cost less in the long term. But, that BMW is a nicer car.

My wife has the 2015 Q5 TDI with the 3.0.

30mpg in the city, fast as shit.

But I also think gas/electric hybrids will supplant diesels in cars.

I was basing my comments on two friends' experiences with Passat Wagon in the last 6-7 years that had all sorts of problems. Two families said they'd never buy another VW. Small sample. Dunno about others' experience

Is it a passat thing or a VW thing?

I always here about nightmare passats.

I can't find a CPO Beemer wagon near me that isn't way overpriced...Not giving up yet

The last generation of Passat wagon was known to have a fair number of issues. And the 1.8T in the earlier ones had the coil pack issues. So yeah, not surprised it was a lemon.

I've read that newer VWs are much better. Then again I recently bought one, so it could just be confirmation bias that's helping me sleep at night.

CPO costs the dealer a lot of money. They have to pay and recondition the vehicle. Not sure why you all are so afraid of a used BMW. If you can't afford $1k repair once and again buy a new Toyota. A used non-cpo from a BMW dealer will be a good car.

This is a nice concise summary of the probable outcome. Yes, I think the VW will be cheaper, even if it has more problems, but that beemer drives so nice. (Full disclosure, I have a 2011 BMW wagon, and a 2012 Golf R.)

My 2011 X5 was a breeding ground for electrical and transmission gremlins.

Traded it for a new 2013 which was great until it wasn’t. They bought it back.

I love a BMW, still drive one which has been a dream to own post-warranty, but I’ll probably never buy one again without that peace of mind.

    YMMV.

Not much at all. 183K on the odometer. Just put brakes/rotors on it at 150K or so. Yup, it really is almost all highway miles. I had the exact same car, (only a 2007), before that that I put 110K on it, and it had a right rear axle bearing go for about $1000 repair, but other than that, only maintenance.

I've probably had $1500 in small repairs. Most I didn't notice till they repaired it. Like odd valve, gasket, computer glitch stuff. Car would run a bit better when they did the fix. I have the dealer do all the work, and I take it in when it's due. We are buying another BMW for sure. There's a semi major repair/maintenance thing I've been putting off, 'cuz I want a new car. It's a gasket of some sort for about $1000. Gets 27 MPG, and I drive it hard in any weather.

    Can’t sneak anything past you

The question being discussed a few posts back was would you be comfortable owning a BMW out of warranty.

Why does it need to be near you? I live in the San Diego area and have had cars shipped to me from the other side off the country 4 times and have flown in and drove home a few from neighboring states. If your going to save a few thousand, pay $500 to have it shipped to you.

Case in point below. $10k price difference for a similar car and mileage. Just pay to have it shipped to you.

Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

We never got a F-series wagon here.

    I wish we did.

Of course there's the F31, but no F11. But when the G comes out: no more BMW wagons for the US.
