I've been meaning to give them a try for years but never have. I need to get on that. I eat scrambled eggs much more often than fried, they're just not as photogenic.

I should discuss the homemade sriracha a little more. I followed the Serious Eats recipe to the letter (http://www.seriouseats.com/2012/02/h...ch-sauces.html) and it is addictively delicious. Exactly as noted in the SE article, it's fruitier and fresher tasting than the bottled stuff, but in a good way. My only gripe would be that 1.5 lbs of Fresno peppers ended up costing almost $10, so a little spendy considering you only end up with about a pint of sauce. It also came out a little weak heat-wise, so if I do it again I'll probably add in a habanero or two to boost the heat. I think I'll try making a green version with jalapenos and serranos.

It's not like I throw down like that at every meal--I do a lot of "utilitarian" eating. I'm sure as hell not going to post pics of my microwaved potatoes with ketchup in this thread, though.

Bison, venison and elk are so lean, they just don't shine ground up like that. If you're paying that much , buy a nice big slab of meat !

Rancho market! They had good prices on vegetables, especially peppers, when I was still in Utah.

    Have you tried making harrissa?

All the Rancho locations are a bit of a haul from my place. There used to be a great Mexican market near my office but it closed. The asian market next to the liquor store on 90th is worth investigating though, should have thought of that.

Hadn't even heard of harrissa, sounds tasty.

^^^ I see what happened there, Cruiser. Griller gets the ends, right?

I hadn't had lamb in a couple of years. No idea why. One of the best meals I've had in awhile. I forgot how good lamb was! I saw a recipe that called for marinating in a white vinegar based marinade. Seemed odd to me, but I used vinegar as the base and it was outstanding!

About a 1/4 cup of vinegar, EVOO, garlic, S&P and rosemary and sage for 2 hours.

Sauteed Chard out of the garden with a little bacon. Some foil pouch garlic potatoes. MMMM...
