I grew up skiing in Wisconsin. My "downhill ice skating" lessons often included one-ski drills.

One of my race team tryouts involved running no gates and exclusively focused on your ability to ski on one ski, do 360s on the snow, and for the final round do one ski 360s on the snow.

It was a weird era for skiing.

Optics, this was done in the 70's. My mom's skis even have her name and phone number branded into them with gold paint. Now a days, I would never do that as a woman because of the crazy things guys do. Not sure if there is a patent on this approach, but people just scratch serials off stuff and sell as a "no warrantee" item. This is super common on bicycles. Another option is to just never stop skiing while on the mountain. This was my approach for 12 years and it resulted in no gear stolen!
Someone once told me that I ski like a Scandinavian angel.

Probably OT since my BG's are 15/16's, but had my first day on them yesterday and holy schmokes! I've been waiting for a deeper day to try them out, but since our early season has been horrible this year I broke down and took 'em out on the groomers with 10 cm of wet manky fresh on top. I can't remember the last time I had this much fun on groomers. Super stable at speed yet so manoeuvrable. I didn't know what to expect as I'm used to lighter skis (80% touring..) -- but any fear that these would be hard work was completely unfounded. Can't wait to try them out in some deeper stuff!

Wife got to ride her new Wrenegade 88's today at Kirkwood (w/ softer fiberglass and carbon fiber). It was a bluebird day, and the snow was decent. She loved the flex and the way they rolled easily from edge to edge. She also commented on how they "just want to go faster." We took it easy and didn't try to kill ourselves today while we adjusted to new gear (she's in new boots too).

I was on my 4Frnt Kye 95's today, and not my BG's, as there was no new snow and their waist profile was better for the conditions. I'm not convinced I like these 4Frnt's...

Hey, are you Guys going to have a Jessie 98 in a 161 & the Charlie Murphy in a 141 out at the LL Demo? My Wife and Boy want to demo those skis really bad.

On a different note, I can't say enough about the CS from Scott. ON3P is a Kick Ass Company that builds some of the best skis out there IMO. I also very much like Moment Skis as well & my new 184 K108 reminds me a lot of a wider 188 PB&J with a little better suspension due the bamboo & slightly heavier weight per unit than a wood core Moment Ski, that and a maybe a little more pop out of a turn.

My Wife has been on this years 162 Sierra for her DD & really likes it. Pretty much does everything she asks of it, but she wants to try the ON3P experience seeing how much I like & rave about the ON3P "Ride".

Finishing up reviews of the Wren 88 and Wren 98 here in Vermont (Thanks ON3P!)....stay tuned! Chassis is smoooth as buttah with plenty of pop on demand...long nose rise = great transitions in and out of snow both flat and on-edge...we now see why people are addicted to their Wrenegades....significant rocker front and rear means they ski shorter than they measure and you can loop the front or rear around if you over turn 'em...great crud busting fun with quiet power underfoot..only shortcoming we see here on Eastern boilerplate (can't get your pole into it) is the Wrens are a bit slick and prefer to be "in" snow rather than "on" snow..but the tradeoff means great storm-skiing prowess and junk busting fun. Great dampening of vibrations without loosing the great energy in the layup. Quicker than you might think. The new 88 is a more precise, accurate tool than the 98, but lacks the surface are of the 98...depends on your snow conditions...the 88 could make a lot of people happy who want the rockered agility and surfing behavior, but the more surgical underfoot feel of the 10mm narrower body. We'll post up the review as soon as we get it finished up. Kudos to the ON3P shop for producing the Wrenegades..now in 88mm !

Well, good for you, want a cookie? I grew up skiing in Wisconsin too.

Perhaps that works well on groomers, but not well on the conditions I lost the ski on. I like my knees.

Just about to pull the trigger on a pair of 98's

Do it... I bought a pair of 189 98s this season and absolutley love them... I have two pairs of Viciks from ON3P and like them, but the 98 is an absolute killer ski... Other than my fatties this ski will eliminate several skis in my quiver...

Want to throw up some comparisons between the vicik and 98?

Also does the pillowflight still exist? I saw josh anderson post a photo on insta of his old pair pair today and have always wanted to just own a pair. Even if they are super overkill.

I too would be interested in that comparo. I'm actively thinning my fleet and the Viciks have seen the most days, particularly here in the PNWet and find them perfect.

Thanks for the message. As a replacement for my lost Vicik I'm thinking this'll be my go to for railing groomers.

Fit this right in with my Sickles and this will be the perfect quiver. Although I'm looking at you Kartels as a potential replacement for my Sickleburgs.

I am out skiing now and will def throw up a more in depth review, but for me the 105 to 112 has some what fallen out of favor for me... I still enjoy the waist width, but if there is any real new snow 3+ inches I will either grab my GPO or Billy... If I was only allowed to own one ski than it would be 104 to 110 underfoot...

The 98 just rails and is so fast underfoot and does a great job with dust on crust... Still maintains the ballz and speed and due to the rocker profile it does really well in soft snow... I am sure the 108 Wren is killer, but if I was taking the 108 out I would think I would more than likely grab one of my fatties...

98 is my groomer/AM crusher. I was a fan of the original Vicik. But this is just better. Have not been able to find the speed limit yet. Like Undertow. If it's more than a few inches, I'm just pulling my kartel 116.

When/if Juneuary hits I will be more than happy with my Wren 98. Just a solid.

I still havent had a chance to jump on my 116s yet... I will admit holy shit are the 116s centered mounted... Even against my GPOs they are pretty far forward..

PA, I think i bought your first gen 186 Viciks... Regardless, the 98 Wren is the absolute shit... They will def be in my bag when traveling...

And Norse I have your same year 191 Billy and the 98 would be a perfect match... And to PAs point I do not doubt the 98 will be a spring cream cheese/corn killer...
