Ok, it seems like everybody is drinking the wren98 kool-aid. Can anybody compare it to the wren102? With regards to float, maneuverability etc. It seems that the higher rocker in the tail would make it a bit more slarvy when needed?
I do like my 102s, great in powder for their width, decent on groomers, but a bit too much tail for me in marginal conditions / scandi-trees

I demod the 102s and was not a fan... It was a good ski, but should not have the Wren name... Def softer and more easy going... Not that any Wren was demanding, but for me the 102 was a little lost... The 98 def beats the 102 on all fronts and cant think of category the 102 excels over the 98...

You can carve the 98 and when you want yo throw it sideways you can... For me it is a Unicorn ski...

Don't you mean the Wren 108s? Or is the 102 out of production?

Can someone compare the Wren 98 to the Bonafides? And keep in mind I have about 55-65 days on the Wren 112 (which I love) so any comparisons there appreciated as well. Sacrilege, but I think I'm starting to like the Wren 112's even more than my BG's the more time I spend on them. They're just so versatile and can handle every type of snow.

Just for fun because all of the pics in this thread are of skis leaning against the wall. Good example of why I like those ON3P bases... barely left a scratch.

EDIT: Fuck it, I know I'm going to like the Wren 98's so just pulled the trigger. Do you guys have some kind of punch card? Like, buy 9 pairs of skis and get the 10th pair free? ;-)

Never ridden the 98 Wrens but can tell you I owned and flipped a pair of Bonafides because the ski was stiff enough but the tail felt a bit vague for how I ski. Prefer the Fischer Motive 95s with a flatter tail that I have in that slot to the Bonafides. As always, YMMV...

Will it eliminate a 176 vicik by chance?
Common sense. So rare today in America it's almost like having a superpower.

So, ended up demoing the Wren 98 and Billy Goat. We did the same three laps: Spillway-Richards, Excellerator trees-reload-South Chutes, 4 - North Chutes.

The Wrenegade 98 is a really good ski. I skied it on soft groomers and tracked snow as fast as I wanted to go. The 98 didn't chatter or slip on anything. It felt incredible stable and damp. Then we took a lap in some very soft snow & tight trees and I struggled. It felt like the ski wanted to go whatever direction it was pointed, and I wasn't able to make very quick turns. I told a friend that it felt locked in and not loose. No surprise, really.

The Billy Goat is a great ski. Floated, made any turn I wanted, felt super stable on everything. Railed the groomer for a fat ski, was much better in the trees and S/N chutes. I can't add anything to the 100's of review and comments already made about the BG. They're awesome. I want a pair.

I wanted to ski the Kartel 116 but it was out, so I called it a day. The guys running the tent were professional, quick, could speak to build differences and traits of the models. Good reps to have out there. Nice job guys.

Got on the Steeple98s for 20 or so days

    Thoughts here
    http://www.doglotion.com/on3p-steepl...er-gear-review

"the Steeple 98 hits a lot of sweet spots. It has a lot of range but is biased towards soft snow. If you want a handmade in North America soft snow touring ski the Steeple 98 should be a consideration."

Also pretty tough bases although I got it mostly in pow

I like my new 186 K108's for my current 1 ski that can do it all, but I was wondering how the 186 K98 stacks up against a 188 PB&J.

I've been skiing some BGs for the last 4 years and was thinking of expanding my quiver. I was wondering if anyone could school me on the difference between the Goats and the 108 Wrens particularly in crud and minimal new snow

I'm lucky, or unlucky they sold their last Kartel 108 in between me thinking I wanted some and deciding to pull the trigger.

Everyone whose dick is too big for the new Wren, here's your chance at the old guns: http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...758-Gear-purge

If you're not lining up, then all the talk is just talk.

I just sold my 191 Wrens. Rad skis, but since I'm no longer skiing Lone Peak in anger; they're overkill. I can rage at Mt Hood Ghettows with my Viciks and LP XXL just the same.

Has anyone spent time on the praxis freeride? I have these but am considering replacing for the wren 108s. Any comparisons would be much appreciated.
