I love that people like rontele and concretejungle frequent this thread even though they're not in Colorado anymore.

Once I70 gets in your blood, it is tough to get it out. They miss the endless hours spent in traffic on that veritable cornucopia of pain.

    It's schadenfreude pure and simple.

I'm willing to start an "It's Cold As Fuck In Southwest Montana And I May Want to Move Back To Colorado Thread."

Mad props to Danno who on Thanksgiving weekend, helped me move to EC. Three foot dump, and I just needed a tiny bit of space extra and he was right there. No questions asked.

14ish? years ago. Bad ass dude.

Back when there were no remo's and he had porn star chest hair.

    Props.

Have you tried driving a RWD car with bald tires in the snow? That's how.

Technically still a Colorado resident and my business is there; but, yes. I frequent the threads for the montanaskier butthurt and real time observations.

I still live in CO but no longer endure the horror show that is I-70. I think I forgot how shitty it is the first time I went skiing down here.

edit: You're right, forgetting is hard. Coming here and savoring the fact that you don't have to deal with it anymore...that's easy.

I've started honking and flipping the middle when passing trucks on I70 with no chains during a chain law.

Are you volunteering to spend a couple hours rebuilding my chains every day? We run through the tunnel or over loveland pass 6-14 times a day x 7 trucks. I have never once needed chains on the highway.

You must be a super awesome driver then, because there are dozens (or hundreds) of truckers who sure-as-shit do need chains. Either that, or they should just stay the fuck off the road in the first place.

Most of them should just stay the fuck off the road, beyond that it's how the truck is equipped. Straight truck with good tires, differential and inter-axle locks are a whole different ballgame than an empty tractor trailer with a single drive axle and crap tires. My truck runs $800 a piece continental snow tires and is AWD. All of our trucks run snow tires and most of them have axle and diff locks.

Maybe they should just make everyone run chains, regardless of tires and how many wheels are driven and size/weight. Body shops would be the new pot shops.

I did not know that; I thought you had fully taken the east coast plunge (though I knew you still came back a lot). Is the job new? If so, congrats!

I'd like to thank everyone who left home late this morning, got hung up at Georgetown, and left the goods for the early crowd.
    Much appreciated.

    I was caught in that.

It was a good lesson in patience.... cause deep down I wanted to rage on those idiots..

But, when we finally started moving, I did see a UPS truck with chains (not socks) on all 8 drive wheels slipping and chirping chains as he tried to get up the Georgetown hill.... not excusing anyone, but it really was fuckin slick

    OFFICIAL I70 BITCH THREAD....

I have no complaints about today. It was amazing. I Left my house at 5:32 AM in Stapleton. Loads of snow in Denver. Lots of ice on the interstate. 2:15 later I was at Copper. Hung out for a bit and clicked in at 8:25. Seventeen inches of pow didn't suck and I caught the Resolution chair rope drop. By 12:45 my legs were destroyed. I was solo so I didn't wait for anybody and pretty much got right on the lifts within a few seconds all day. I left Copper at 1:07 PM and was home 1:58 later.

Roads were far from perfect and I may have been lucky, but I sure had a fantastic day.

You we're lucky. I left Denver 30 minutes after you and it was 4.5 hours to Vail

I'm sure luck had nothing to do with it. It was all about the 30 minutes earlier.

So that I can better understand...you left Denver at 6am and got to Vail at 10:30am for a day trip? And this is somewhat "normal" or "to be expected"?

The only thing I understand is front range weekend warriors that used to ski. Any yet the ski areas are selling more and more passes. As soon as one guy throws in the towel, another one takes his place in line. Crazy.

Yesterday was another reminder that if you want to shred big powder on a weekend and want options beside WP or Eldora, go up the night before. It's just easier that way

They are selling those more and more Epic passes to tourists. Numbers matter

Not necessarily true. My friend left at 4:30am and got stuck in multiple closures... there's no way around the shit show these days.
