Cdot's twitter account does a pretty good job on staying up to date on closures etc.
Agreed it's pretty much spot on and damn close to real timeI'm not on I-70 anywhere near as often as most of you guys but I think google maps works great for traffic.
Corner store junkies giving advice
Update on my ExpressToll vendetta:
They finally dropped the toll after I worked my way up the ranks at CDOT until I found someone to help me. Turns out, I got in the toll lane immediately after it opened and they finally admitted that there was a delay in displaying the toll amount. If the price increases between entering the lane and when the transponder/license plate is read, they charge the higher amount. That's where they tried to screw me. It reads $0.00 when the lane opens and takes a minute to display correctly.
I attempted to go further to get ExpressToll to fix the delay, but they were having none of it, and seemed pretty peeved that they were even waiving the fee. I'm sure they use this to get a few extra tolls from people who will just pay anyway, so they don't want to stop their scam if they aren't forced to.
So tl/dr, don't use the lane if it says $0.00, that's false and you'll get a bill. If you do, lmk and I'll help you fight the system.
EB to Frisco from Vail at 1.....16 semis stuck about a mile or so from the summit of the pass....none had chains. 16....unreal. Make the fines higher!
ROLL TIDE ROLL
Agree, that is beyond acceptable. WTF
How are they even allowed to continue up Vail Pass? It should be like a weigh station, they should be required to stop and get checked before driving any further.
Sometimes stateys are out there pulling em over at the lower chain up area, but not always it seems. And how much they check every truck leaving cuz I have still seen em go up from there sans chains. I often thought weird that they have that upper chain up station, but maybe not such a bad idea if you can stop em first. Might need the chains to get going again. 2 separate closure in each direction I think today.

I passed a truck with chains spinning its tires on vail pass yesterday. Also saw a semi rear end another semi just east of the tunnel.
over under of I70 being an epic shit show this weekend?
I bet one big mess, cold and snowy on the front range, more terrain open at the resorts
I70 is pretty bad right now on the CCC side. Really icy. Need more snow to cover it all up. SuCo side is in better shape.

Snowdaze, Dew Tour and big storm = 3-4 hours Summit to Golden on Sunday guaranteed.
I 70 will be a junk show on Sunday.
ITS isn't simple. A lot of google traffic is populated by people using their phones and monitoring that. Not sure if ITS on the state side can do that. wazzapp or whatever is often how that shit gets populated on google.

formerly an ambassador for a few others, but the ski industry is... interesting.
Fukt: a very small amount of snow.
Left Denver at 530 this evening expecting the worst and breezed up. 65 mph the whole way
Heard it was a shitshow WB near Copper today and now it looks like EB is closed at Silverthorne because of multiple spin outs. There need to be big fines for driving vehicles without proper tires, no more pussying around.
Still a shitshow in Dillon. EB is closed so people just park on the road so no one can get through to Sthorne. Classic Summit County Clusterfuck!
EB Vail was fucked a bit this evening by a spinout. Had to close a lane for the tow.
