People just drive too damn fast
You're falling into the trap of "what works for me is what should work for everyone." Bad way to make public policy.

Maybe your M+S tires are good in snow. Maybe you're a good driver. Not all are -- and that's what we need to make our regulations around -- the common person in the common vehicle. Unless you want to make everyone pass mandatory drivers tests (huge economic burden on CDOT), traction restrictions are the way to increase safety and predictability. All 3PMSF rated tires meet minimum snow performance requirements, M+S is just a design requirement -- nothing to do with performance.

Yeah, you're absolutely right. I wasn't meaning a policy based on my experience, I was meaning to say that I've had a good experience with my m/s tires.

I have "severe weather" tires in my garage right now, but they are 33" and would require me to put a lift on my truck - and I don't wanna waste that money right now.

There are some All-Terrain severe snows are out there, got 31s on my Jeep, 30K to date and holding good tread still.
Yeah, I got 33" Goodyear Duratrac Wranglers with 40k miles on them and about 50% tread remaining.

    ^^^^ surprised not number 1

just at lunch today had some cell phone mini van mom drift 1/2 way left into my lane to take a right turn with no signals. I have to lay on the horn just so she knows shes straddling the fucking white line and pushing me over. Then on the way back some guy BACKS UP from 88th and Wads intersection to get into the left hand turn lane. I'll admit the symphony of every car in the intersection from all points of the compass was a new one for me and I rather enjoyed.

The daily Morrison speed traps on 470 & 285 probably account for half the tickets in the state.

    OFFICIAL I70 BITCH THREAD....

A few weeks ago, I merged on EB I70 from the Loveland Pass exit (which CDOT just lengthened) and was going 65ish when the merge lane ended. There was an asshole SUV driver who I merged in front of who started flashing me and tailgating me. There was no one in the left lane mind you. This asshole hangs on my bumper for a good 30 seconds then passes me on the left. Horns and middle fingers are extended then he takes off.

A few miles down the road is construction that he gets stuck in, just feet past the Bakerville exit. I was able to quickly get off to get on the frontage road and I gave him a huge shout and "ahaha ha!!" as I'm going up the exit ramp and he's stuck in that clusterfuck.

    I love I70.

218 is Herman gulch. No way to get on the frontage road there. Well, not legally.

I know a guy who drove the bike path from LL to B-ville once by accident. I70 was a parking lot and he thought it was the frontage road at first.

I used to be a terrible driver. Not out of control, but dangerous and aggressive, regardless of road conditions. I've since grown up, thank god I never hurt anyone back then.

You haven't driven in Utah recently then. Based on the infrequency of blinker use around here, you would think that it costs about $1.00 per blink.

Study shows NM is in the middle of the pack. I question the validity of the study as does anyone who has ever been to or lived in NM.

agreed. There's a reason we used to call those yellow license plates "warning plates", as in "warning, NM driver inside".

How many of these idiots have a "clean" driving record while leaving disasters in their wake? There's no metric for this, and it very possibly explains why Massachusetts, New Mexico and Oregon drivers (to name but three states) aren't higher up on the worst list (and I'm not claiming there aren't a lot of bad drivers in CO).

One thing I've been training myself to do is to not get so pissed off after encounters with idiots - to let the incident pass and stay focused on what's in front of me. My tendency has been to get steamed up, which can distract you from the task at hand (the next idiot coming your way).

cotrip.org and it blows. Don't trust it though. And if the highway is closed, count on the webcams to be down too.

Use their highway sign boards. They're so accurate and helpful!

yeah, they can't fix a damn pothole to save their life but spend millions and millions on digital signs apps and cameras which only work some times

as far as the signs go, what's the purpose if they never really use them? or only alert you within a few miles of the "incident" instead of fifty miles away?

was traveling west a month ago, passed tons of signs with nothing on them, then bam dead stop traffic, look on the app and it says accident east bound expect delays, well sure enough the accidnt was in the west bound lanes, not the east, people get to keep their jobs doing stupid shit? must be nice
