2 deaths blamed on the snow, but can't find out if they're both from the cliff car, or another accident.
Spent 3.5 hours in traffic today... trying to go to Denver from my house

They just spent millions down here for an underpass so the deer/elk can cross under Hwy 160 instead of getting hit. Not sure how the deer/elk are supposed to know how to use it though, maybe they'll put up a big neon sign or a salt lick.
Perhaps a similar project for Summit County?
I'm kidding...
The Sheriff is near!
Yes, if they put the signs in the right place it will make it much easier for the deer.

I can't find the words to express how great that would be. Thanks for the laugh.
I70 EB minor safety closure at Silverthorne....WTF does that mean? Now they just close the road when it ever snows?
EB Vail Pass closed 1/2 hr ago.
And reopened with a "staged release". So is this CDOT's new attempt at traffic flow control?
Pure carnage today feel sorry for everyone going the wrong way today.. 70 east to the tunnel was empty at 5 pm. Too bad I was stuck in 2nd gear going west with every punter who can't drive in the snow.
Possibly. Not a lot of people up here this weekend, so couldn't be too bad.
Once they re-open the highway, there is generally a lot of vehicles and trucks chomping at the bit, so just setting them free on their own recognizance is probably not the best as much as we are ready for them to go.
Not sure if it has been mentioned, but wouldn't it make sense to meter EB traffic at the bottom of the hill in Silverthorne? That way you don't have traffic stopping and trying to get started on the hill?
That may create a different kind of shit show for local traffic in the area, but still wondering the collective's thoughts.
If more people escaped the snarled local traffic to businesses, there might only be a moderate revolt as opposed to complete revolt.
they stop traffic in silverthorne, thats what the fancy traffic light on the highway is for about a mile or so uphill from the silverthorne exit
the only suck is all the roads in silverthorne turn into a parking lot, I know people who live down there and can't get home from work or it takes a half hr to an hr to get to their houses just getting through town
not sure why people just line up on the entrance ramp and park in their running cars and wait for the highway to open, go for walk, go shopping, have something to eat, guess they all have wifi and tv's in their cars so it's comfortable?
Gnarly drive back from Moab last night. Glenwood Canyon was a skating rink.
Saw a Mitsubishi eclipse try to eject from the road up near the tunnel. Back wheels hung up on the barrier. Otherwise they were going bye bye.
It's no boat, but...
