First pussy path showed up around one tree/side a month or so ago. I and others fruitlessly kept trying to block it up. I gave up - was wasting my riding time.

    Then this bullshit showed up.

Ideally, they should have a complete re-route (not just a little shortcut) and let that whole area come back as best as it can by not riding that line anymore. That is a lot of erosion and it appears to be a decent slope, so that isn't helping.

The cutting is really bad. That is just pure ignorance.

Hopefully they get worked by that tree when it falls over dead.

I tried to block that spot too and got yelled at by a spandexed out racer weenie while doing it. He started tossing my blockages out of the way while I was doing it so I bailed before knocking him out. Scrub, want to meet one night and do a reroute?

During the storm? Well done. Let me know when the place is packed out sufficiently and I'll make my way over.

Apparently there's a nemba meeting this week and they're going to talk about fixing some of the problems there.

It's fucked up. The dudes who keep dumbing down shit are saying they have "been OKayed to do so" by the city land manager types. However, all the trail build (at least legal shit) has been done via Danbury/FCNemba, and they know nothing of these assclowns. All the other trail is mostly NY or private land. Whatever.

The main issues is people doing pussy paths/re-routes, etc. on the public/legal side of things. That's gonna' fuck up our access nice and good. Well, potentially.

Word is re-routes. But, of what, and why? Shit, it's already the fastest/least technical spot around, and has so far proven to be fairly sustainable. There are a few spots that are eroding from being waaaaaay of camber steep bits, but those are easy fixes. I'd love to see a berm or three in a few spots, but whatever. I'd rather see a motion to shoot trail sanitizers on site.

Anywho: this is why we can't have nice things.

Re: riding. We only got ~6" here anyhow. It's going to melt/freeze a bunch in the next few days. Place sees enough traffic you'll be fine whatever day you decide to ride.

I still do not really understand what those notches in the roots are supposed to achieve.

When I see easier alternate routes I no longer cover them up because it lessens the odds of some pussy trying to clear out the rocks and roots that make the primary trail challenging / interesting. Lesser of two evils...

I mean, that is what I thought, but seems pretty dumb to me.

    I don't either.

I'm not sure whoever did them is sure.

( i mean, yeah, traction stuff, but done in such a stupid/dumb/useless/ugly way. those roots don't need it at all. )

I should hear hopefully tonight or tomorrow what the solution is going to be. I'll post up a work day in the EC thread when I know. I really like riding that spot and it has lots of potential going forward, many many acres that haven't been worked yet and another whole section north of/across the top road that hasn't seen activity in decades and also potential going west on the NY side of the border.

Two from my ride this morning (Heil Ranch, just north of Boulder)... probably the only rideable "real" trail in the area right now.

Got on some fun, stomped-in singletrack up at Round Valley this morning. Some decent mileage to be had, it's fun in both directions.

10 years in the Wasatch and I still haven't skied up in PC yet....but the riding is sick!

    Skiing is improving slowly though...

Is it worth the drive? I keep hearing that there is some decent riding, but I find flat to be boring as fuck.

I'd say it's worth checking out. The Nordic trails are nice for some mindless pedaling and the singletracks are really fun. The grades are mellow, but it makes for nice climbing and fun descending.
I think I'm going back up tomorrow morning.

Edit: I did go back up and explored some more trails. It is definitely worth the trip. The trails are fun and the air is clean.

Quick trip to Gooseberry Mesa. If I didn't have a friend coming to visit this weekend, I'd be heading back.
