For me the numbers just aren't there financially for the majority of the State residents or even businesses to care at this point.

it's this simple, cdot and polticians put together a multi billion dollar outline of what they will accomplish, they ask the citizens of colorado for higher gas taxes, income taxes, and property taxes to pay for it, it goes to the voters, the voters say yes I want to improve roads and transportation or they say no. It's that simple, instead of being forced to pay more we are lucky to have the ability to decide.

Tabor simply gives us the power over taxation. It is funny because some of you see no problem with higher taxes and nice roads, but a large majority of people don't really care. I70 is just a white middle class problem so people can recreate and have an escape from the front range misery on the weekends.

Thank you. Jeez louise... I thought I had a sense of how CO "citizens" abdicate their governmental responsibility already, but this thread has proven to be an eye opener.

This really sums up my point better that anything. The demographics in CO are changing, and 20 years from now, this state will be owned, occupied, and operated by those people who saw fit to invest in the state's resources. You 'natives' who have been content to squander the state's opportunities are about to get run off your land. Enjoy the rez.

What is this native stuff? 2/3 of CO residents are transplants.

About 5.4 million people in CO, 50% of them live in the greater Denver metro, and 85% live in metro/micropolitan areas along the I-25 corridor from Pueblo to Ft Collins making CO one of the least rural states by population distribution. So why do they care about some mountain roads to the Western Slope? They are more concerned with tunnels that carry water from the west than tunnels for cars.

Or maybe a lot of them ski so they do care? Or is it just the 1%? ~12.5 million skier visits per year in CO. How many are from out of state I couldn't find the stats on. But I did find demographic breakdowns. 8% are in the lower half of income earners. 42% are in the 3rd quartile, and 50% are in the upper quartile. Skiers aren't typically poor except for the locals. But is isn't a a 1%er thing. It is solidly middle class.

I noticed last night while driving to Denver that they installed small lane reflectors between the tunnel and Bakerville, like those east of the twin tunnels. They're great - why not install those everywhere when repaving is done?

Also, I can't imagine what they were thinking with the third lane. It is so narrow in places. I definitely foresee some issues.

Pretty sure I've never claimed we do everything perfectly in NY. I'm here after all, right? The part that's funny is how so many natives seem to think that has something to do with them.
