Complete clusterfuck EB from Silver Plume to Idaho Springs bc of the construction. Basically a standstill for the past hour, including all frontage roads. Not sure what he fuck they're doing that's creating this.
1AM - 5AM is the new "Hot Zone" for powder skiing if you're coming from the Front Range.
Take note TunnelTrash™.
Driving back home today and EB was backed up from past Silver Plume to ID Springs....that's crazy.
ROLL TIDE ROLL
I heard CDOT's new initiative is to piss so many people off with I-70 traffic that the state's population trend reverses.
today driving down the hill from Breck was awful. they need to figure this shit out.
what they failed to figure out is that this is a HUDGE travel week, and every day this week should have been treated like a weekend, ie no construction.

Mag chloride is worse than salt. It eats rubber and plastic parts, pits chrome and chrome plate, turns electric transformers into torches and is cancer causing. And ever walk where it's been sprayed? Crossed a few streets in Denver after it was sprayed...It's slippery as fuck. And as someone else said it doesn't work when it's colder than 25 F or so.
Some CDOT lackey is likely paid off by a supplier to authorize it's use.
much to logical for cdot plus they are probably 3-4 weeks behind schedule
I bet i70 will be an EPIC mess all weekend, snow in the forcast, snow and cold for the front range, bitchen early season conditions everyone will be headed to the mountains instead of the malls this weekend 8 shut downs between thursday and sunday???
I'll take the under 3 for this weekend. I think the storm will fizzle, and the volume of traffic will actually keep the road in decent shape.

Supposed to be done by the 12th. We'll see.
2 and 1/2 hours from A-Basin to C470 & Santa Fe thanks to the construction mess.
Highlight of the drive home was when someone moving MUCH slower than me in the right lane decided to merge into the left lane without checking their blind spot. Slammed on my brakes so hard that I was burning rubber. Honked my horn and the guy flipped me off, oblivious to the fact that we narrowly avoided a serious accident.
Now opensnow is giving an i70 forecast. https://opensnow.com/dailysnow/i70/post/4393
If your traveling peak times, vibes.
CDOT's new customer service response, "if you don't like the traffic, leave!"
I love it.
toll lane construction causing multiple months of traffic at peak times?....assholes.

2 1/2 hours from Gtown to University and Hampden on Tuesday at 4pm. Complete BS.
I'm going to laugh at CDOT when the toll lanes don't make even a dent in the traffic or make it worse because people drive extra slow due to the tiny ass lanes. Hopefully somebody gets fired.
Over 10 years ago I said the best thing they could do is start a third bore at Eisenhower and perhaps by the time they finished they'd know what they wanted to put through it... lanes... trains...

But hey, at least our taxes are low, right??? Republicans ftw
You can't get something for nothing...
When the train plan came back at $20B or whatever it was, everyone said NFW. As though there's an alternative... Real mass transit is just table stakes for any city that aspires to be a major intersection in civilization. So now we're $75M further away from any real solution. I personally don't give a shit. As long as these "native" morons keep leaving the house at 6:30 and the ski area at 2, it all means dick to me.
Did you see the federal highway report where the 3rd lane is only certified for part time use because it doesn't meet minimum spec for a 3 lane roadway? It's so "colorado" to drop a ton of money into a half assed solution that they'll only use when it's virtually guaranteed to cause a problem. I can totally see the conversation...
USDOT: "Well, it's not wide enough to be a third lane, so you can't use it all the time."
CDOT: "That's cool... we only want to use it when the roads are too full, it's dark and snowing, and everybody's drunk."
USDOT: "Um..."
