Yeah but you will be able to buy a new phone on their payment plan and not lose the unlimited.
I've been holding onto my unlimited with a death grip waiting for something to happen. Been buying phones aftermarket and usually behind at least one generation. The extra $$ sucks but it is what it is.

On $45 plan now, down from a $88 plan w At&t. Happy so far, rural coverage is bad but living in a valley like slc it's fine.
Recently switched to Cricket for the AT&T coverage. $30/month for unlimited everything, data throttled after 2gb. Similar issues with really remote areas, but rural coverage has been pretty good overall.

Got a ZTE Zmax for cheap. Fucking hell this thing is huge. I'm going to give it a few weeks, but I'm pretty sure a phablet isn't for me. Where the hell do I put this thing?

Had to google it… but yea fuck that. I think my limit would be around the iphone 6 size.

Even the 6+ would be pushing it for me.

Maybe the answer is one of those belt clips that everyone used to have.

It's what cargo shorts were made for. If you think cargo shorts are before their time, like I do.

It was $45, so I figured it was worth a shot. It's a constant pain in the ass.

I'm a cheap bastard with a cheap phone on a cheap plan. I'm not the type of guy to throw away a bunch of perfectly good shorts just because they're allegedly "out of style". Doesn't help me during work, or when I'm riding or running, though.

Shit, I didn't realize that. It looks like most of the "fewer than 1%" of their customers are on this thread. I'm sure with additional fees and taxes that will end up being more than $300/yr. Why do sprint and t-mobile have to suck so bad?

well, I have to agree. cracked screen (which can happen to any phone) but ever since it's been a little slow and quirky. I probably should have bought the little case to add a bumper. I have the insurance plan so looks like it will be used once again.

How the heck do you carry the thing? Do you have a purse? I recently went to the 6s from the smaller 5s and sometimes I really wish I had my smaller phone back. As far as data plans and stuff....work pays for all of that along with new phones for the wife and myself, so I have stopped paying attention.

Tight pockets and pants? Put it in your front pocket set on vibrate and get a good friend to call you. Often.

Long time TMo customer here. Rural coverage sucks, great in urban areas though. You've probably heard, but they recently announced "Binge". Pretty much every video streaming service no longer counts against your data usage. They only reason I can see to pay the premium for Verizon is if the superior rural coverage is a must.

Project Fi sounds pretty cool, if the device support expands I would seriously consider it.

Any reason not to get a Moto G for use on T Mobile? Seems like a killer phone for the price and I am so sick of the bloatware on most android devices. Apparently there is one LTE band that isn't supported, but it seems to only be an issue if you are using data during a call http://www.androidheadlines.com/2015...nd-12-lte.html

The ability to not worry about data and roaming in many other countries is really nice too. Wonder if the streaming video deal extends to overseas use too?

No I idea on the phone, I'm about ready to start looking for a new one after waiting a year for tmobile to approve the updated android for my phone. I'm leaning toward a nexus or similar that has stock android. That's the same setup on the moto phones isn't it?

Supposedly they are very, very slightly tweaked. Stock android for all intents and purposes and no bloatware. The X looks pretty sweet too if you want to spend the money, but the specs on the G are way better than my current phone anyway,

I bought a Moto G 3rd generation a couple months ago. I'm using Metro PCS for my provider which is on the T-Mobile network. It's a nice phone, works great, and T-Mo's coverage in town is fine. I don't really care about coverage in rural areas. If I did, I'd probably switch to Cricket for the ATT network which is definitely better than T-Mo. I see no reason to pay the exorbitant fees the big names charge and deal with contracts and all that nonsense when you can go with one of the low-cost providers and ride on the same network.

Heck, I just picked up a $20 Tracfone (Alcatel is the manufacturer on this one but it's a cheap POS so I don't really care) to use for selling stuff on Craigslist and as an emergency backup. It's an Android device and all I need it to do is make calls and send texts when selling stuff. When I'm not selling anything it gets turned off and put in a drawer. I think Tracfone uses AT&T's network also. Works just fine for that.

I finally ditched the iPhone and got a plain old flip phone.

I had an iPhone pretty much from the start and realized that I don't need full access to the Library of Congress on a chairlift. Also I hated how much energy it consumed. Yes texting now sucks, but I usually just dial people anyway. My tech savvy kids mocked my decision. "You'll be sorry!" But so far I'm not.

There are free wifi networks all over Jackson and you have internet almost everywhere. A Start Bus guy told me last year there will be a new network system allowing better wifi on my daily ride to the Village. There will be a huge $$ drop in our 5 phone plan. I can't believe how much free time not having it created. I wasted a lot of time doing nothing on the 4G/LTE..

The first thing I noticed- after about a week- is that my iPhone was heavy. At 140 grams w/o case, it was a noticeable and liberating change in my regimen. Instead of carrying on my personal self, it lives in a backpack now.

    So far it's working out

Just ordered the moto x pure. The xperia z3 ended up being a bust. Sony updated it into the ground... Several updates ago they turned on a signal strength notification that couldn't be disabled. Every time the phone would lose, gain, or change signal (3g, 4g, no g, etc.) the default notification would play. Only way to turn it off was to disable all notifications. Then they turned it off in a subsequent update, only to turn it on again, and off again, and on again, and you get the picture. Living in an area with spotty cell service, it was super annoying. Then the display crapped out the other night. It's too bad... They have a great device going there, but I wouldn't even consider a z5 with all the update problems Sony caused. I expect the moto x will be too big, but we'll see. Bummer that no one's making a premium cell phone that isn't the size of a salad plate.

I'm wondering how much Band 12 is going to improve coverage. My Galaxy s5 doesn't support it, but I'm hoping range is a bit better with it on a new phone. What's great though, is that with the new crop of unlocked phones you can try out Tmobile, FI (with a nexus, Is Tmobile + Sprint better than Tmobile alone?), Verizon etc.

Yes, the price is right, but very limited on devices- either one of the 2 new released Nexus 6P or 5X or pick up a used Nexus 6. Even watching for a used one, seems 90 percent of the Ebay listings have broken screens already.

Tracfone actually uses all the networks that they resell- GSM phones could be on AT&T or T-Mobile, depending on the Sim code used and zip code. They also have phones in CDMA for Verizon and even a few Sprint models (mostly over on the Walmart StraightTalk). But the majority of Tracfone sales are for GSM phones. The package will have a P4 or P5 in the part number. P4 is AT&T, P5 is T-Mobile.

Anyone tried the blackberry priv? I hate touchscreen keyboards, but had basically resigned myself to never seeing another good device with a physical keyboard. All the review sites seem quite impressed with it.

I guess I'd ask you if you'd buy a brand new model car ala Pontiac Aztec or the like? Give em a generation to iron out the kinks. It's a first gen droid device from a company that's never made a droid device. Just saying.

Currently trying the moto x pure. Only annoyance so far is that all my exchange email and calendar appointments are delivered in the gmail app, and there's some permissions issue preventing me from editing existing appointments. Battery life seems okay, but not great. I was spoiled by the Z3, which I could use all day and never go below 60%. But they nailed a couple of basics... Screen dimming is super dark, and the led flashlight is extremely bright. Just saw a nice feature where the phone realized I was still awake and offered to turn off my 6:15 alarm. Nice..

Phone doesn't seem as large as I expected, and I'm using smart keyboard pro, which is the best soft keyboard I've found and fits well on this device. Hardware wise, this is a very nice phone. Screen is super slick, resolution is quite good, the phone is confidence inspiringly heavy without being too much so, and response is super snappy.

    So far so good.
