You're a good man for braving the elements to get those shots. I believe the second one of me could use a caption, read in a Mario voice... "IT'S-A-ME! RADAM!"

I'll be going through my footage and will hopefully be able to put together something that captures the morning's fun later on this week.

On more than one occassion early in the day, RG was going to ski down and take pictures, the first we got followed under a rope and had to plunder before he was ready, and the second we got followed by some guys that were stalking us. We got to the top of Green and RG went down right when these guys popped out of the woods. I went, and halfway down fell. Everyone else was fully plundering and passed me. Mrs. DW was absolutely slaying it on her board when following wookie #1 launched and flew by her head about 5 feet away. I was standing right there getting ready to go after everyone passed.

So if anyone was wondering how to get DW pissed on a pow day, that would be it. Following, and almost taking out his lady.

Any thoughts on following locals around for stashes?

You made it halfway? That's a record, right? [/highfives]

Have had it out with guys flying too close to people (never at Magic). But for followers, just keep them behind you. Or mislead them (get to the top of something you don't care about and let them go ahead, then go to the real thing).

"Locals"? I think "regulars" is the term you were looking for.

As for the wookie and his partner, it's best to keep a look over your shoulder to make sure no one is looking, before sneaking into an entrance. Let them follow your tracks later, then make sure to head deep into a drainage that is only feasible to exit with free heels and let the boarders and clampers wallow their way out!

right, regulars buy passes and lift tickets, and locals look for deals and ride lifts on pow days only. got it.

Unfortunately locals buy passes and tickets, but most of those passes and tickets seem to say Stratton or Bromley on them. Not enough regular locals (multiple interpretations possible there).

I wasn't even going to bother mentioning the one shitty instance of chodery but fuck those track-jacking beaters. I'm just glad he didn't fucking hit her skiing down blind like that trying to snake a line. I don't even care about following tracks- but that's a whole other level of dickhead.

That was so sketchy how they were just standing around and following/waiting to follow people though. I mean for fuck's sake, come say hi and introduce yourself and ask to ski, don't be a sketchy douchebag like that. Shit's dangerous if you don't know your way around. I get the most stoke out of showing new people a good time but that fucking pissed me off.

I seriously called it too. Their douchiness exceeded even my wildest expectations though, and for that I'm pretty impressed.

    Oh, you mean this nonsense?

You could probably make the argument that I was following a bit close.

If I'm at hill I'm not familiar with, I wait in the closest parking lot pretending to be sleeping, but with a good view of the lot. I then assign a point system as cars trickle in.

Subaru or Tacoma with the appropriate stickers (Magic@Magic, Pico@Pico, etc) 10 points
A wave or thumbs up from the parking lot attendant 10 points
Green or orange FKS/Pivots on skis 5 points
Any looking around or signs of confusion as to the shortest distance to the lodge -10 points

    You're looking for a 25 pointer.

Once you've acquired your target, gather your gear and place your skis next to the target's on the rack or lodge wall. Glance at his din settings. You're looking for 11+.

Enter the lodge and reacquire target. If he's being high fived by other skiers in the lodge and chatted with by employees, you've found your guy.

Everyone has their own style of breaking the ice after completing the identification process, and I'll leave the rest up to you, but some stuff that has worked for me in the past:

    - Casually mention you know a guy that found some skis...still in wrappers in a storage shed in (insert name of nearby town) ...they're called Volkl Explosives or something like that
    - Your cousin works in a brewery in VT and always has these cases of beer with silver cans w black
lettering that he gives you called Heavy or Heady Something and you think it tastes like shit so you keep giving it away to people.

    Good luck!

Woulda been so much better if you had knocked him over. (Woulda been so much better for me if I had been there yesterday, but that's a different story.)

I was going to say, what about locals juking transient powder junkies? (At least RG yelled, "On your right!" while snaking me.)

As far as pics yesterday, I finally saw the beauty of a GoPro. It had to be documented, tho and besides, the Doctor says I can live without the use of fingers for at least another month.

TimberRidge, you really need to work on writing a guide to skiing in Vermont. Kinda like The Preppy Handbook... I'd buy a copy.

It's similar to when the nachos come to the table, you don't just grab the chips in the middle, the ones all covered in cheese and stuff, and leave everyone else with a hollowed out volcano of dry chips.
    That's a lame move.

I may devote a whole chapter to this in my book (thanks for the idea BD) and include this video if I have permission. Does anyone have a video of the Mrs.'s close call?

It will be completely anonymous...i.e., skier#1 or skier A.
