    For Immediate Release

Magic Mountain Announces Hike One Ride One Uphill Skiing Policy

February 2, 2015 Londonderry, VT: The best uphill policy in the ski business just got better! Magic Mountain is excited to announce a first of its kind- an expansion of our uphill skiing policy- which already sets the industry standard. Effective immediately, any uphill skier or splitboarder who successfully climbs the 1,700 vertical feet to our summit will receive a complimentary token good for a single lift ride (limit one per day, valid only same day). Simply announce to the lift operator at the base that you intend to climb up, climb to the summit and our summit lift operator will give you a Free Turns token, which can be redeemed by the previously notified lift attendant for a free ride back up on the chairlift!

Magic Mountain is an industry leader when it comes to supporting uphill skiing. Magic introduced one of the first official (and least restrictive) policies in 2008 and continues that tradition with today's Hike One Ride One policy. We believe this program embodies our mountain's community-driven values and supports our mission of offering affordable, classic Vermont skiing, snowboarding and outdoor recreation.

    About Magic Mountain Vermont:

Magic Mountain is a unique ski area located in Southern Vermont. Magic offers an alternative to the norm for the region; inexpensive, classic and genuine Vermont skiing experience unlike any other. The mountain's "east side" features classic beginner and intermediate terrain, complete with expanded snowmaking, grooming and even beginner glades. The mountain's "west side" offers skiing and riding the way nature intended with steeps, cliffs, and hundreds of acres of glades to explore. I expect to be right there with you. Non-mag buddy is picking me up at 6am to ensure that we are there with plenty of time to boot up and stake out our place in line well before opening bell. So none of my usual early morning bullshit that gets me there at the crack of noon. Foot feels good too so I am 100% stoked to rip teh powz!

I imagine the abuse rate on this policy will be low. You get your token at the top of the mountain, so basically the only ways up are via the lift (with a ticket or pass), or skinning/hiking. Then you give Dave your token at the bottom. No token, no lift ride. Maybe a few skinners will try to save their token for another day but the AT crowd doesn't really strike me as a group to try to pull a fast one on anybody.

Thats awesome! Interesting how it doesn't mention snowshoes. If a snowboarder snowshoes to the top to ride down, I wonder if they will get a free ticket as well?

I was there last Thurs, there was a dude there skinning up with his kid in tow. Little mini chariot thingy strapped to his waist, held by aluminum poles then on mini skis of its own. Pretty cool setup, and nice guy.

At work now, but there's a good chance I'll be able to make it tomorrow

If EW and BD are here we may have to have an impromptu meeting of the AARP.
