Nice afternoon today with a few hours of milder temps. Sun came out and we got to enjoy Sunshine Corner:

A great day to be outdoors. Afternoons in the cold sunshine are so invigorating! The college racer kids from the McBrine Division lent a friendly and fun atmosphere, and it seems that DoWork has gotten a couple kids addicted to gravity.

Looking forward to seeing some progress on west side for next weekend, the kid is doing a great job in the groomer. It has to be hard to be an artist when you have no paint.

    Think snow!

Terrible apres news - the JJ Hapgood store no longer has Fiddlehead on tap.

Fantastic apres news - the JJ Hapgood store now has Zero Gravity on tap.

Whew - that was a close one!

SoS is so Ski Sundown (now that it's being contract brewed in CT).

Bump this off of page two.

I can't make it up tomorrow because I have a job interview! I seriously doubt if I'm the best candidate but it's way better than having no job interview. Eventually one of these has to pan out...

Look forward to seeing people this weekend though. Looks like maybe we could get a little somethin' somethin' before it's over?

*sigh* tell me about it. Those were the days!

Fun Magic fact: Switchback outsells all the light piss beers combined like 3:1 in the BLT.

They've got a good mix, but I do think they could stand to have a premium or two on tap. They certainly have the crowd for it. I know I'd splurge for Lawsons, HF or even an Iron Duke on tap.

I'd bitch, but the bar crew keeps bottles of a beer that I like stocked up and they kindly place one in my hand whenever I am seen without one. Works for me. I do miss the HT's though....

there was a time that the champagne of beers was the top seller, or so I'm told.

anyone up for a road game this weekend? Mad?

If I can get a hall pass from the Mrs (fairly likely) I could get down with something like that, but one of us has to be around at 3:00 to pickup little man from his camp at Bromley. Normally I wouldn't even consider travelling on a holiday weekend, but I've pretty much had my fill of Magic Carpet and Hocus Pocus. Some bumps and/or pow would be nice.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm actually jealous that you get to ski while your son is in lessons. My little guy just flat our refuses to go take lessons. I tried to drop him off last year and the ski school took him back to me five minutes later after the meltdown.

On a somewhat related note, is the beginner area at Magic ever going to happen? I'd probably buy a pass for next year if there was some trails for the 4 year old.

Hang in there - I feel your pain as my boys were a year apart and we really couldn't afford lessons and at times my wife and I had to trade off skiing with them, hanging out in the lodge….Now they can totally rip and there is nothing more than I love is skiing a day with them (ages 11 & 10). I was so psyched the first day on skis this year before xmas at Cannon watching my boys hitting a few jumps and watching my 11 yr old landing 360s. So want to just freeze their ages right now as they still think Dad is somewhat cool!

I'm still confused why the tube park tow rope couldn't do double duty for skiers and tubers. Is it the height of the rope?

I'll drive. Leave her the car, we won't be back by then. 2 spots left in car. Willy has one if he wants it.

The handles are different for tubes and the snow should be groomed so the tubes track away from the rope. It would be an issue for beginners. There is also the problem with how do you route beginners over to and back from the beginner area.

Thanks, Bb. I'll have to check out the tow rope when I'm over there tonight (celebrating birthdays at BLT). As for getting skiers to/from the 'beginner area' it would be just as easy to make part of lower Black Line a beginner/slow skiing area. Much easier for newbs to get in/out of the lodge, parents would be able to see kids from the BLT and deck, etc.

This is clearly a temporary fix until a 'true' beginner area could be invested in.

He means how would you get skiers from lower hocus pocus to the tubing tow. Between the hill and tubing and around the hill are both illogical. You'd need to use the lookers right rope tow.

Another good point MMP. Is the rope tow portable? I think it used to be lookers right of the tube lanes, but maybe I remember it wrong. Setting it up there would allow it to service both. Maybe...possibly...conceivably....perhaps, perhaps, perhaps.

If we move the rope tow will we see you at Magic using a lift? I thought you were fully committed to the uphill policy.

there's two rope tows. one on either side of tubing. The one that services the beginner slope isn't operating (hasn't may be the better word). The one that services tubing is running.
