That shot made me wanna ski today. What mile said.

Muddy lots were all full today. Early. Even red cliffs was filled by 10:15. What they have done successfully is get people here on the day after a powder.

As for lifts, I think 10 is fine as long as it does not break down. 11 and even 5 would do a lot for the family vacation crowd, which is what they need to attract to have regular business. Especially mid week. Obviously something needs to be done with 4. 2 could remain if they build the red cliff base to caplet crest lift. Sure, eagle bowl riders would still get bottled neck, but a lot back side riders would be happy to skip 10 and zip up whiskey.

Not that I want any of that. I want my dirt bag broken lift wind held playground back. But that won't happen.

Anyone know what's up with the guy with the luxurious beard, cape, and two rubber chickens in holsters?

Cowboy Ted. He's a regular at the heave. Just another eccentric SLT ski bum.

WH sure did suck today. Whoever put in that skin track needs a spanking.

Thanks! It's too bad that Skier666 has to show me up every time that I post something. Nice work Casey! Doesn't look like I will get an Eastside trip this year. But was fortunate to ski some of those same lines last season.

Yesterday hiked/skied Mt. Rose (the resort) with Corky and his lady. Scored a fresh line down "Bonanza" on the Slide Side then hit up two laps on the Rose side. Hit a few sharks, but mostly had fresh, boot deep goodness. Oogled The Chutes, but stayed clear due to the presence of a number of natural slides (also, one of our buddies skied "Beehive" and kicked off a decently sized slide, so playing it safe seemed to be a good call).

Went back today and rejoined Cork and his lady and brought mine in tow (she'd never hiked before and I'm breaking her in for patch skiing season). We banged out 3 laps on the Rose side and by mid-day it was shaping into pretty slick and sweet speed corn.

No crowds, easy parking, pretty easy access, good snow, cold beers. All in all a nice, quiet and enjoyable ski weekend in Nevada.

The best part was watching Metzler climb up and search for his 2 lost skis after he tomahawked a few times, as seen at 3:03. He got a front row seat watching the snowboarder clip rocks and face plant.

    Some from yesterday (Saturday)

Made an attempt on Crescent Moon from the bottom. Yeah. Didn't get very far. Chest-deep wallowing. Worst I've ever tried to boot through. Everything else out there was pretty wind-raped today, except maybe the most sheltered NE-facing stuff.

Not that it's going to matter in a couple days anyway with the forecasted highs.

Nice little skin into Thunder Saddle. Snow was variable & punchy but untracked & smooooove. Then hung out @ the top of 10 for the straightlines

Kirkwood was great Saturday. Was expecting terrible crowds when the the chair 6 lot was almost full before 8:30, but then no one else really showed up... Now I just need to repair the core shots before summer wax goes on the skis.

dhklauer, you get any footage from that inadvertent front flip?

Don't think I'm getting out again until May 10th- looks like Sonora is going to be pretty baked by then?

Wait. Is that a core shot running half the length often ski. I always tell my wife that scratches in the direction mean you were doing something right.

the bases look soft enough you could just iron it back in place or maybe throw some caulking in there...
